Yeah. Got the email t'other day warning me that my league is part of the pilot. Can't say I'm looking forward to it

Minty and I were confusing them before all this crap came in. This is just another string to our bow!!!

Plenty of information available on my league's Facebook Page (@TrelawnyLeague). I will be live streaming on Tuesday evening at 7pm as myself and the County Governance Manager give a presentation to club members and referees about the system and how it works etc.

This list is interesting. I am certain I had an email telling me that 1 of the leagues I referee will be trialling but they dont appear in the list above. I will have to double check - I assume if you aren't officially in the pilot then you shouldnt be operating temporary dismissals?

Also level 4s I am sure you all know but supply leagues are Not in the trial, or nwccp aren't at least. So if you're league appears here it probably applies to the lower leagues. Something to bear in mind if you offer a spare date to a league you may have to do temporary dismissals on the lower division games.

A lot of those leagues will be seeing a sharp decline in referee numbers......if not before the season....very shortly afterwards.

Will be interested to see how people try and sell this pile of crap as a positive to officials. Don't know what's worse.....the FA for coming up with it or the arse lickers who are peddling it out to the poor souls whose leagues are stupid enough to trial it?

One of those leagues is reputedly the biggest youth football league in Europe, too. Not exactly small fry.

Aren't there two of you? :)
Not where I referee!!

Aren't the players typically less hungover as well?
Futsal players are far, far, far worse than football players.

Had far more incidents of serious, over-the-top levels of abuse - and assaults against myself - in 2 years of Futsal than 15 years of outdoor.
At least that's how it ends up here anyway, you guys have different club arrangements and cultures over there. It's the fact that it's just a bunch of mates having a kickaround on a Tuesday night that's the problem - they screw up and get banned, worst that happens is they have to go to the next centre down the road. Not like outdoor where they're accountable to a bigger team who has committed for 5-6 months, then to the club, then to the league.

I'm on the SAL which is in the trial. I argued very strongly that we should limit the trial to the premier division 1, where all the games have a team of three but they're trialing it throughout.

My prediction is that it will be total chaos for individual referees to implement and won't actually help dissent at all.

Just to be clear, temporary dismissals will only be for dissent.

I ref in the sheffield & district junior sunday league which will be part of the trial and I took part in one of the webinairs last week run by the FA. I've only been refereeing a year and in that league I've only ever issued 1 booking for dissent so whilst you're getting the usual coaches on twitter bleating on about half the players being sin binned and the end of the world is nigh etc etc, the reality is that it shouldn't make much difference in the majority of games. According to the research done by the FA over 135,000 games, there were only 0.46 bookings per game for dissent and less than 1% of games had more than 1. As we're all aware, some refs don't like using cards in kids games so they won't notice any difference.

I think it will work, club officers and referees all have to go to a briefing session so will be aware how it works, some clubs may prefer it as temporary dismissals won't incur the £10 admin fee that come with a normal yellow card. I've always treated junior games as development games so explaining decisions and talking to the kids about their behaviour as to what is and isn't acceptable I believe is part of my responsibility as a referee, and I'll still be using the stepped approach so it's unlikely I'll show a yellow without some form of warning first. It might cause some issues with parents/spectators, most of whom don't seem to know any laws, but that's hardly something new and we deal with now anyway. Writing down what minute it is in your notebook while showing the card and adding 8 minutes to know when they can come back on isn't really that difficult is it?

Give us the 10 yard advancement of ANY FK which is greeted by 'strong' dissent or crowding of the MO and the problem will dissipate very very quickly, if it goes into the box then its a penalty, period!!!! That will shut the fookers up, and if we don't shut them up their own team mates will when it starts costing them goals!!!! You heard it here first!!!

Trust me, going a man down for ten minutes will do much more damage than giving moving a ball forward ten yards. Have you ever played the game?
