Law 15

Laws Of the Game say that:
"At the moment of delivering the ball, the thrower must
have part of each foot on the touchline or on the ground outside the touchline"
So, does this mean that players are not allowed to throw the ball when part of their foot is on the field of play while part of it is on the touchline?
I was wondering if this (
) (2:09) is a bad call or are players allowed to do that?

The Referee Store
Nothing wrong with it.

The law simply states what the players have to comply with. As such, as long as part of the foot is on the line or the ground outside it the throw is legal in terms of feet.

You can not have one foot (or two obviously) FULLY on the field of play when throwing. If any part of the foot is on the touchline it's fine even if most of the foot is on the FoP. Think of it like the ball crossing a line - has to be the entire foot across the line for it to be an infringement.

Yeah so you could in theory have both feet on the field of play as long as the heels of both were touching the touch line and this would comply with the law I believe?

Got to love those Yankee Soccer commentators.......
I love this guy. I watched a load of his stuff last season. I think his analysis is straight ahead, honest and I agree most of the time. I also like that he frequently uses the correct terminology and refers to his "opinion". I also love the speed of it and would love to watch the same weekly Prem league summary...

Yeah I agree, Simon Borg is one of MLS' top guys in terms of this sort of stuff. All the comments always criticise him for getting stuff wrong but the majority of the time he's spot on. Good videos for honing our own skills too

It's his delivery style that's slightly different to our useless ex-player breed over here. He actually talks quite a lot of sense.... our idiots come out with some right garbage sometimes....

No, it means exactly what the extract you quoted from the laws, says. It means that the player is allowed to throw the ball when "part of each foot [is] on the touchline or on the ground outside the touchline.'' So if a part of the foot (and the heel is part of the foot) is on the touchline, it doesn't matter where the rest of the foot is.

Spot on. But watch out for the player whose heel is on the touchline but raises onto his toes as he takes the throw. This is now a foul throw.
