Wig at goal celebration - Rodrigo (Valencia-Barcelona)

Rodrigo didn't get a yellow card for this goal celebration. Does this fall under "A player must be cautioned for [...] covering the head or face with a mask or other similar item"? The text seems quite clear (yellow), but some claim it's not a booking because the player would still be...

    Red or Yellow?

Harsh because it looks like a body check gone wrong, but following the laws it can only be red.

    Drawbacks of the VAR system

Rarely, but some are black/white. And some of those black/white situations are now being judged wrongly and some of those mistakes have a big influence on the outcome of a game. Video referee has the best info (except for dissent) so he can make the best judgment (and rectify where needed). As...

    Drawbacks of the VAR system

I was talking about what are VAR calls now, the 4 categories of "match-changing decisions/incidents" according to IFAB (goal, penalty, direct red, mistake identity), but now that we're talking about it, that's in fact also I think should be changed (I know it won't happen anytime soon). Scoop...

    Drawbacks of the VAR system

    I meant all video calls.

    Drawbacks of the VAR system

Video referee would make the key decisions, so you'll need your best people behind the screen. Also have to say the best field referee will not always be the best video referee. These are two different jobs that demand a different set of skills (and a different training). You can be a top field...

    Drawbacks of the VAR system

As we've already discussed before on the forum and as is again said by some in this topic, two key changes should be made : 1) Video referee becomes head referee and makes the calls, on-field referee is basically just another assistant referee. 2) Teams should get a couple of VAR requests...

    Neymar red card

Yellow for both is the right decision here. Also looks like the referee had already whistled for that first foul (?), so Neymar in the end only brought it upon himself by playing on.

    Man C v Burnley penalty?

It's clearly the goalkeeper who charges into Silva, who is acting in a totally normal way (before the contact). And seeing these images of his foot/ankle, you have to say it's a penalty, can't stay on his feet and continue play in a normal way. There could also be some kind of block of...

    Real Madrid v Tottenham

Two possible penalties: 1. Casemiro-Llorente (no penalty) 2. Aurier-Kroos (penalty)

    Watford v Arsenal

Richarlinson clearly playing for it, but looks like a penalty for me (Ozil gets in the way of that replay from behind, which could have been conclusive). Although it's the kind of situation for which I'd prefer the option of a free-kick inside the penalty area. Penalty is too much of a reward...

Red, yellow or no foul? please vote and comment

Last video indeed shows something new. Still image supports excessive violence, but when you watch video it's definitely not. Two yellows seems fair decision.
