What do you do to make your pre-match different?
Typically they are pretty dull and all follow the same pattern, observers and ARs switch off. And to be honest, I find delivering a pre match boring too.
Does anyone mix it up at all?
A typically inane way to pass the time during a rain delay at a cricket match is to discuss how many consecutive hundreds you are away from playing for England in a test match.
I was wondering for a newly qualified L7 how many games do you think it would take to be selected as the referee in...
Does someone more in the know than me understand why MOAS can't be used across grassroots football? Closing dates in multiple systems is tiresome for referees and littered with errors and inconsistencies, which cause a lot of issues with appointing officers.
I think most would agree that MOAS...
Thanks for the clarity on the law amendment. I find it strange that so many people have stated the fact that it hit the defenders leg before striking the arm as the reason it was overturned. Dermot even sited it on the TV!
Is it still in law that if the ball hits another body part before making contact with the arm then it is not an offence? Or just considered mitigating factors such as speed, distance, etc?
I was on the line for a game last week whereby the striker had a good go at attempting to stop stop the keeper from punting his drop kick up the field. The ref brings play back to caution and restarts with IDFK.
I asked the ref what he has cautioned for as this wasn't a promising attack, and...
Thanks James, good explanation.
I suppose the bit that concerns me is that observers and even RDOs are mixing the terminology between the two. It definitely muddies the water unnecessarily.
I've long had this thought at the back of my mind that I do not fully understand the interaction between the LoTG and the FA Caution codes.
Recently I heard an observer mention that a pull should be a caution. This is not stated in the LoTG however FA caution codes specify pushing and pulling...
Left winger takes the ball passed the right back whilst going down the wing. Right back attempts to block the run and both players go down as I award the direct free kick.
The winger then in frustration has a pop at his opposite number which when I had a few goes on the whistle defused. However...
Hi guys,
I'll have my first middle with neutral assistants this weekend. Obviously I've done plenty of games on the line, but I was hoping to get some advice on how to get the best out of us as a team?
From prematch instructions all the way through the game.
I was AR in my game at the weekend when for no reason the striker from the reds was trying to get in the way of the keeper for the blues drop kicking the ball up the field.
It wasn't like the blues were trying to get a quick attack away and the ball didn't touch the striker despite his best...
In the instance I haven't moved houses, just trying to move CFAs, as I am on the border between the two of them. Is there a way of doing it without having an awkward conversation with the previous RDO?
That's ridiculous if that is the case. Have done 16 games so far on my 6-5, only received 1 observation (the last of the 16) after complaining that they had forgotten me. If I don't get passed because they haven't completed enough observations them I'm not going to be too impressed
