I'm a bit puzzled by the possible restarts with this, but that's possibly because I can't see them being explicitly explained in the LOTG anywhere?
Law 3: 9. Goal scored with an extra person on the field of play
If, after a goal is scored, the referee realises, before play restarts, an extra person was on the field of play when the goal was scored:
• the referee must disallow the goal if the extra person was:
• a player, substitute, substituted player, sent off player or team official of the team that scored the goal
• an outside agent who interfered with play unless a goal results as outlined above in ‘extra persons on the field of play’
Play is restarted with a goal kick, corner kick or dropped ball.
Am I right or horrifically wrong in thinking what the laws are trying to say is, if play hasn't already started following the goal:
- If a team scores with an extra player on the field, the restart is a goal kick.
- If a team scores with an extra player on the field but the final touch is by a defending player, the restart is a corner.
- If a team scores with an extra player on the field, but the final touch is by an outside agent (whose touch didn't stop a defending player from stopping the goal being scored), the restart is a dropped ball.
- Also, if the extra player was on the field without permission of the referee and he interfered with play, the restart should instead be a DFK from where he interfered with play.
Little help please! I feel like i'm barking up the wrong tree but can't find an explanation.
