FA CORE Programme

I find this for referee's that are young and are wanting to listen to achieve I'm 26 and I haven't been selected I would want to listen but the coaches have also want to listen to me

Doesn't make an awful lot of sense that @ref craig.

The CORE programme is based on ability and ambition and is not based on age. I know DFA's and CFA's and certain others have said that it is mainly for 16-24 but that has not been communicated by FA or Neale Barry.

We've got a session for county CORE this Sunday, not too sure what the age range is likely to be but we had an 'academy' last season which was just about full of younger officials and imagine it will be fairly similar this season.

I've seen the full list of FA CORE 3 (Which was selected by the FA themselves rather than nomination by RDO as with CORE 1 and 2). There is a large variance in age range with a significant number born in the 70s and 80s. There is nothing 'ageist' about the group selected.

My under standing that FA CORE 3 is aimed at those at L4 and above, therefore I suspect having more people over the age of 24 in that group is to be expected.

i'm 34 and I've been selected, when replying you have to be quite open on your age and status regarding commitments! it's an exciting opportunity but I am concerned regarding what commitment they want back! 2 kids full time employment...... see where this takes me

If it's anything like the development groups I have been a part of (both FA and County), then you will probably have monthly meetings (usually on a Sunday). I can't imagine they will be too much different. Although, there may also be some extra meetings during the closed season to keep everyone ticking over.

And that is why it's hard for people over 24 to be selected. By that point you start to settle down and not EVERYONE can commit. It's a lot easier for 16-24 year olds as a GENERAL rule.
