Uruguay and Argentina couldn't agree on what ball to use, so it was decided that one team would provide the ball for the first half, and the other team for the second half.

Correct and near a word perfect answer from google...I would have accepted that two different types of ball were used! ;)
 
A disagreement overshadowed the build-up to the match as the teams disagreed on who should provide the match ball, forcing FIFA to intervene and decree that the Argentine team would provide the ball for the first half and the Uruguayans would provide one for the second

the exact wording used ;)

Erm. Nowhere near unless I imagined all those cup finals?
Alan Sunderland scored the winner in 1979 - not 1980. (That was Trevor Brooking ;) ) Villa scored his winner in 1981 and then it was Hoddle in 1982.

Nicknames are unique to each team in the pro game?.

Leicester - Foxes
QPR - R's (Hoops is shared w/Celtic)
Leyton Orient - O's
Charlton - Addicks
Bristol Rovers - Gas
Torquay United - Gulls (Brighton etc are The Seagulls)
Scotland - Tartan Army

i like that but its not the answer i'm after ... nor is the ugly strip @A Freethinker i quite like the torquay kit as it goes
