Congratulations to any ref chat member on the list.

Now i know its a bit of an "unanswerable" question but does anyone know when the 4's will be announced? My mate has been told it may be another 2/3 weeks!!! But why would it be that long?

I would say at least a week today, perhaps even w/c 8th May. Could be early next week, but I'd be surprised.

There's a lot to take into account - how many have gone to level 3 and from which pools/leagues (which they now know!), how many current level 4s are calling it a day, how many current level 4s are being reclassified to level 5, feedback from pool appointment officers about coverage, etc. Once they've worked all that out, they can start looking at the 5-4 nominations from county FAs and deciding which ones to take. It can take a while; last year it seemed to take a particularly long time for some reason.

I was hoping a couple of days at most. I suppose the best barometer is how long following l3 announcements last year were the 4s announced... does anybody know?

Yes - the level 3s were announced on the 26th April last year, but the new 4s not until 9th May.

In that case then I would say your wc 8th May would seem reasonable. I read on here that last years announcements were delayed but no reasoning was given, so that might suggest next week is not a bridge too far - we'll just have to wait and see

I was told last year was extended due to the extended marking season, don't know how true that is.

Longest wait of my life this......!!!

Best of luck to you both - it will be worth the wait!

Yes it was, as the weather created issues for the L4 candidates and the number of matches they had refereed. The extra time was simply to assess march games, if required.

So I know that the marking season was extended but did that delay the announcements. It seems to me that we are working on a similar timescale without an extension of the marking season.

Anyway what will be, will be I suppose. Feel a tad bad for high jacking the level 3 promotion thread so once again congratulations to those making L3. You've undoubtedly worked very hard to achieve it and very best of luck getting further up the ladder.
