Throw in played by teammate out of bounds

Isn't the important bit here the fact that the ball, from a throw in, should enter the field of play from where it left it. how you view the deliberacy of the scenario will dictate who gets to take the rethrow

Villa v Middlesborough - red card rescinded

Reckless, careless , excessive force applies to challenges for the ball. That was not a challenge, that was violent conduct - imo

Villa v Middlesborough - red card rescinded

Red for me- Lansbury is making no attempt to play the ball, he knows exactly what he is doing. He is paying no regard to the players safety at all. It's as cynical as it can get .

    Promotion

RDO's have to go looking for female and minority refs, they do this by engaging with aspects that appeal to that group. once trained they are tasked with retaining them. Not s simple task by any stretch

    Promotion

I really don't understand the rush to rise through the levels. The lessons and experience from working steadily through promotion provide the bedrock for higher levels. I see so many refs who double bounce and come unstuck when as a level 4 they experience their first mass con. Take your time...

    My First Game

As for ball watching, concentrate on where it is most likely to land, that is where your next incident will be. You will find yourself moving that way to. It comes with experience. Even now I find myself admiring a through ball or two . I am better at moving which tends to cover it up!!

    My First Game

Perfect pre match- During a pre match wander about 4 years ago I found an 8 inch kitchen knife half buried. The pitches are used almost continuosly over weekends. Regardless of level, or grade of ground always have a prematch inspection- you never know.

    RC in a friendly

I am wondering if local fa's could be doing more to prepare new refs for their first games. The course is all well and good at going through laws and how to blow your whistle. Does it adequately prepare refs for the nuances of first games and how to handle friendlies, oa, youth, women's etc. It...

    Hi

My advice would be to use the Mentor you are assigned, their advice and guidance will be invaluable. Secondly get yourself on to your county academy. You will get the chance officiate as part of a team and generally the standard of teams is much much better and the grief a whole lot less. Also...

    This rubbish has to stop...

Correct use of the system. Though the ref should have seen the penalty. If I missed that sort of kmi I would be looking at the trap door. This does highlight a growing concern that refs will manage incidents in the knowledge that it can be reviewed . In this incident no real harm occurred...

    New ref couple of question's...

With rowing teammates , get the captain involved nice and early. Tell him it would be better for him to sort it out before you get involved. Allowing these things to fester can only be bad. Check out the famous Newcastle Utd clips for what can happen!

    Be careful what you say.........

They don't want us effing and jeffing on open forums such as facebook, twitter etc. Not sure many non refs are on this forum!!

    Deliberately parrying the ball

The scenario this needs selling is where a keeper 'saves' the ball going out for a corner. Few players will appreciate the definition of save within the laws.

    Ball pressure

The important bit is that they are checked. That way no one can say 'this ones flat'- if you haven't checked you have no comeback

    New Referee (Hopefully)

Approach your county FA for the details of a mentor and use them to provide feedback on your early games and any further advice they can give

    Newbie Ref

Welcome aboard Does your county operate the mentor scheme? If they do arrange for one to watch one of your games- they will be able to provide feedback and you can also pick their brains for any nagging questions you might have. Good luck

    Giant clearances

I am fairly sure there is little you can do. There is nothing in the laws about how hard a ball can be put out of play. It could come under spirit of the game I suppose. The best we can do is make allowances in the time we add on.

    LOTG 17/18

Isn't it amazing that at a time the game is seeing massive cash inflows that grassroots and county FAs are struggling

    Fouled player but exaggerated reaction.

Ask the question, has he deceived you- no it was a foul. Has he gone over the top to embellish or exaggerate - probably. Ask yourself why- have you as a ref given him cause to take such action. Could a decision you didn't give give him cause? I can't speak for everyone, but I would suggest...
