    23/24 Registration

Yes I have ticked that box now - didn't know it was an option. At my age its done with an equal amount of hope as expectation. :p

    23/24 Registration

That would explain it. After the registration - thanks for the link George - went back to the site unavailable message when I clicked on return to Whole Game Home Page. I'll tell Sophie at Middlesex FA I think.

    23/24 Registration

We were told by county FA that registration was open today but Whole Game site down for maintenance until 5th? Same for everyone else?

    Fulham Suspensions

Difference is most 'normal' people actually need every weekly wage to live on, whereas everyone in the PL and I'm guessing at least 50% of those in the Championship don't!

    Crowding of referees

Works for normal people who actually need their wage each week - not going to make a jot of difference to anyone in the top league and at a guess about 50% in the Championship!

    PL Kicks Tournament

Hello all, I'm officiating one of their tournaments next week (U16 Boys and Girls) Seems very organised with an (apparently) impressive team list. Couple of questions 1) Are the teams the actual U16s from Arsenal etc and 2) Anyone done one of these and can comment on the behaviour? The blurb...

    Fulham Suspensions

Yes I agree - guesswork obviously but wouldn't be surprised

    Fulham Suspensions

Manager got £40,000 fine, Mitrovic got £75,000

    Notts County

Well a few of us did - AR would have got referee out of 'trouble' as well! :p

    Notts County

Offside? Bad camera angle, but if you freeze frame its unclear whether the defender tying his laces! is playing him onside or not. Obviously could be another defender out of shot, but not that likely.

    Refs can be mean...

A full stadium has never been an issue for me! :p

    Refs can be mean...

I'd like to pick up on one point there, that I haven't seen discussed on here much, if at all. The use of sound to help make a decision, I've found that it often helps make a decision maybe half a dozen times a match if you're in the middle and a coupe of times if you're on the line.

The whistle is needed to restart play for

But that's just poor communication/pre match isn't it? Always been told to follow referee if last touch is nearer him and that he will follow me if touch is near me. As an AR surely better to wait and see if in any doubt. Seen it on may routine calls as well, as you say, maybe, like all of...

    Scotland v Cyprus

Example that actually happened and think I've posted before Last minute, attacker (on a yellow) goes down in the penalty area, referee deems it not a penalty and simulation and issues 2nd caution, blows for FT very soon after. I read a senior referee say you should never do this, because...

Sending off situations: How common are they?

At the (near) top level OP has over estimated the number of red cards - only 56 so far in the Championship and only 35 of those straight reds We've done 38 weeks so 38 weeks x 12 games a week = 456 games, so only a red card (Inc the 2 x yellow ones) in 1 in 8 games.

The whistle is needed to restart play for

When we see PL referees blow the whistle to indicate a corner kick, I don't know why you're worrying? :p

    Social media comments from clubs

So rare but enjoyable all the same. Did an O/a County Cup semi (AR) a couple of years back and both clubs tweeted what a good game the 3 of us had. What made it even better was it was the County's appointment officer who saw the tweets and passed to us. OP - Yes very mild criticism and its...

    Harsh...but fair

On the op why on earth did they need a VAR check?!!!!!

    Wolves Vs Leeds

Just to stand up for "Sunday League" players everywhere. ;) Two examples from 'my team' who, admittedly ARE playing like Sunday League players at the moment. QPR player faced with two oppo players, ball in play, no recent foul or anything like that stops to tie his shoe laces and play goes on...

    Ended badly

On rare occasions I use club ARs, part of my brief is "If any player has a word with you, let me know and I'll have a word with them" As we know we can't caution or red card based on a club ARs say so, but that line allows me to act within the LOTG and pre empts them taking the law into their...
