Great forum. Been lurking. And been doing a lot of games so very interesting to join some discussions.
I am 3rd year in Finland, 4th division. Very hard to judge the equivalent levels to the UK - but suffice to say much, much, much lower. If the Finnish prem is close to 5th-6th tier UK, and it drops off sharply... well...
Nearly all games on artificial now in Helsinki. Very short season played in Spring and Autumn with a July break. 5th div and up get ARs. We have over a thousand games a week in Helsinki and not enough refs so a lot of lower div games on big, new atsro pitches with no ARs. Standard of reffing varies greatly up to 5d when the cooper test, training, more stringent application of abilities kicks in. Lots of investment in new refs and new pitches here has transformed the game in the mid divisions. We were playing everything up to 4th div on sand 5(?) years ago.
Generally excellent teamwork experiences at games in 5d/4d here. We have so many new referees every year that there is a lot of instruction going on between the team - most of the time it has been very positive.
