More out interest that anything else.

Respect handshakes are back in our leagues again.

Do you get home team to walk by away first, or away to walk by home first?

I'm not sure if there is a specified way, but my choice tends to be away walk past home to start. In my head it's the hosts welcoming the visitors.

Hmmm.... only second to IFAB for writing clear and unambiguous.

Home team first to allow them to finish the handshakes and run off to set up in their preferred half of the field (this leaving the non-preferred half for the away team) - of course this can change at the toss should the winning side elect to change ends.

But usually out of habit, tradition or otherwise - the home team usually has an end that they prefer to attack in the first or second half of the game, so naturally set themselves up that way (I.e Man United always preferred to attack Stretford End in 2nd half)
