Vegetarianism

I must admit I've seen the video you refer to since reading your original post Monkey, and it is horrifically difficult to watch.

I would hope those people carrying out these acts are the minority, but you have to assume they are probably the norm. A little to desensitised to what they do.

I don't have the same morals, ethics, social conscience or compassionate equilibrium as most so it wasn't an issue for me, but having seen it I understand the reasoning for the decision you made.

Massive respect though mate, not something I could do. Even one day without meat and I think I've turned into a rabbit.

Apparently smoked Mackrel is fantastic substitute for veggies, full of Omega 3, protein, and really versatile.

Good Luck our simian friend :p

I'm a veggie, not really through ethical choice or anything, I've just never been massively keen on meat. My girlfriends is strict veggie so we never have meat in the house anyway. Don't eat fish either.

Quorn is a reasonable substitute but the fillets can be very dull unless you jazz it up somehow. Quinoa is something i've recently discovered after being recommended it by a fellow runner, supposedly it contains pretty much everything you need vitamin & mineral wise to recover from prolonged periods of exercise. Lots of chick peas and cheeses used in cooking help to replace that protein that you miss from meat.

I do find it very difficult to increase muscle mass. I started going to the gym recently, mainly trying to improve my core strength for running. I'm a pretty lean/skinny bloke (27 years old, 6"5, approx 180lbs) and I eat A LOT but also exercise a great deal so it's difficult to ensure take in enough protein to try and build up muscle mass. I'm not trying to get massive or anything, though I try to supplement my diet with plenty of protein shakes & ensuring that I take in enough calories on a daily basis, especially following a match or a run.

All round diet wise, there are tonnes of exciting veggie recipe ideas out there, it's not all dull rabbit food! :)

Being serious, what are you top exciting veggie recipes. I've got a nearly two year old daughter and always looking for different ways of getting her to introduced her to new veg and in different ways. She loves vegetables, so always a winner in our house.

My lass tends to do most of the cooking as I am definitely not skilled in that department! Some of my personal favourites though:

Aubergine Parmigiana

Any sort of nut roast, although the ones from the frozen aisle can be a bit tasteless

Veggie Chilli, can be done with lentils and beans etc or using some quorn mince works just as well
