Blades v Man Utd

But it wasn't was it?
It was an attacker and a forward both sprinting towards a ball that the defender got to first before the attacker ran into him, knocking him over.
Next time a player appeals for a FK after he's been fouled during one of your matches mate, try saying "No mate, you just weren't strong enough to hold off the challenge". You can compete for space/possession physically (contact sport ;) ) but you can't just barge somebody out of the way and off the ball. :)

At no stage during the build-up to the goal did Jones have possession of the ball so how did he get there first? It was a straight 50/50 fight for the ball in which the attacker came out on top. PLAY ON!!

Jones got there first. Watch it. That's why Mousset had to barge him out of the way to gain possession. Free Kick. No goal.

We have to look at the Phil Jones factor as well. A player which can approach a motionless ball and manage to fall over it. He's been making average premier league footballers look world class for years

I wouldn't argue that point. But the foul committed is about what Mousett does to him. Like I've already said, try letting that one go at grass roots on a Saturday afternoon/Sunday morning and see how things go .... :D

This is the moment of contact. No one has made contact with the ball yet. Mousset is actually in front . Jones is having a swing on the ball right to left and even without contact is likely to be falling to the ground as part of his swinging action. Given he has very little stability on the ground and his upper body i s moving left to right anyway, it doesn't take much contact from Mousset for Jones to topple on the ground. Its basic defending error. Be sure you can get the ball first or secure space and fend off opponent. Jones did neither. I don't see the push PG is referring to. Mousset's right arm is up but just to protect the space, something Jones should have done.

If you were to play that on though, the right arm comes out to push the donkey over. It therefore changes from a non careless charge, to a push. Moose's arm is in an unnaturally high position after the donkey was felled. It does show the ball was within playing distance though.

A still picture has absolutely no use in this discussion.
You can't see the direction either player is travelling or what speed they're going.

I played in defence, that is terrible defending. Yes, he could have been rescued by the referee deeming it a foul, and safe refereeing would probably be to give the foul, but I still don't think it is an obvious error.
