Guys just an enquiry as to what referees get paid around the country ?

My Sunday league is still £25 with no expenses and very little travelling
Saturday is £28 no expenses bit of travelling
and I think our youth league pays £30

Is this in line with everyone else ??

I promise I don't work for the Tax office :D or know where you live !!

Just curious that's all:)

My youth league varies between ages. Mini-Soccer £14; 9v9 £17; 11v11 (up to U16) £20 and U17-18 £25. Only 20p per mile expenses though (which is very poor IMO). Thankfully I do very little travelling (4/5 mile round trips generally).

No travel expenses unless over 60 miles.

For me here in Scotland:
  • Boys club up to and including u16's - £32 (70-80 minute games)
  • Pro-youth games referee - £35
  • Pro-youth games assistant - £15
  • Boys club between 17's and 21's - £36
  • Amateurs - £40
  • Juniors (semi pro) referee - £45+ depending on league
  • Juniors (semi pro) assistant - £22.50
Watching the look on their face when you send them off - priceless

For me on Saturdays at district level, the match fee is £30.00, at county level (Step 5), assistant referee is £32 and referee I believe is about £45?

On Sunday, the match fee is £30.00 or £40.00 for a double header fixture.

Saturday Adults £28-30 (ranging from local Northampton... to Leicester!!)
Sunday Morning Adults £30 (I mostly get Corby/Wellingborough/Daventry/Brackley. Rarely in Northampton/local)
Sunday Afternoon Youth;
U13 £22 <---> U18 £26

Cup Games £30 + 35p Mileage (after initial 12 miles)

Cut all the above numbers in half if you're running the line

However, the price seems to differ from manager to manager/club to club, so my rule is that - as long as its not an insult - I just take the money and shut up.

Worst 'stiffing' ive received is around £4, but not really bothered.

However, when you get a Leicester game, thats around 50 minutes each way (100 minute travel), 27ish miles each way (54 miles), at a cost of (450m/£90 Tank/20p Mile) £10.80, so you factor in 45 minutes x 2 + interval, thats around £19 for 3.5 hours 'work'. Not great.

Lets just say, im not in it for the money!

You really do need to have a love for the game. As highlighted in my 'Welcome to the Thunderdome' thread, I was already £370 in the hole before I reffed my first game.

So as you can see from the above, the 'take home' after petrol etc, isnt massive. Ive often thought "What is my actual hour rate, inc travel?"

But I would have had to ref 14(ish) games just to cover my outlay. Then I seem to be going through tyres more than normal, I was the car more often as it gets filthy driving through some muddy car parks etc etc. So much to factor in.

People I know, hear my match fee and think im rolling in coin... I always take the time to explain why thats exactly not the case!

Micky , what level do you need to be to do junior Footy ie the mighty Cambuslang Rangers and the Glens ect?? that's gotta be a 4 surely

Down south district leagues are £20 senior divisions £18 junior divisions and 30 per mile. County level £23 plus 30 per mile and step 5 & 6 reserve team level flat £40

All local youth games - £40
Pro youth - £35
Semi-Pro OA - £45
Semi-Pro Assistant - £22.50

So an OA Semi-Pro game with sometimes hundreds of paying fans gets you £5 more than the local 12 year olds that I do :p
