    2019 L3 promotion

I don’t know if this reads in a different tone to how you’d intended, but I think this is a bit insulting towards Russell, who has obviously had a superb season to be in a position to be offered promotion. Personally I wouldn’t give the shiniest **** when the email came, if I were offered Level...

    Two things

I think I'd rather a player call me a c**t rather than "Jeremy Hunt", which I find infinitely more offensive.

Is this what you mean? http://www.referee-equipment.co.uk/Catalogue/Referee-Kit/Referee-Socks/Elastic-garter-GARTERS

    Liverpool V Spurs

That's correct, an email was recently circulated making it very clear that referees up to and including Level 2B, must follow the correct cautioning procedure. EDIT - just realised Brian has said the exact same thing in a different thread! Point still stands however!

    Liverpool V Spurs

As rustyref said, at supply/contrib/panel no way should an AR over-rule a referee cutting grass, but at PL level, the assistant knows he has replays to back him up, so if he knows it's the correct decision, he can flag it with confidence!

    Pre-match instructions

To be honest, he's the kind of referee some tough Sunday morning games need really. He does need to be very sure he does exactly what he says he's going to do though! I probably wouldn't recommend marching out on a contrib/supply game and pulling something like this.......

Blimey, he's refereeing now? Thought he'd passed away! :p

    2x standard 1 x above 1 x below 6-5

I wouldn’t agree that 8.5 or above at supply/contrib correlates to an ‘above standard’ at county level, because they hardly ever get awarded - in fact, I’d argue that a 7.5/8 correlates more closely to an ‘above standard’, and it’s more than possible to get that in a normal game, providing you...

    2x standard 1 x above 1 x below 6-5

Out of interest Padfoot, where have you got that handbook from? I observe at county level and haven't received anything like the above quote. Not saying you're wrong, just I haven't been given that. Very similar wording was in the old supply league observer handbook, but that related to marking...

A question for supply league observers?

This is a question (as the title suggests) at those of you observing at supply league level, in response to a frustrated colleague of mine who I was chatting to this week. Do observers mark first-year level 4s lower than those who are more experienced at that level, for a similar performance...

    Bloody Players

That's the whole point, it's not in the LOTG. But based on every word you've ever posted on here, I think I'd be wasting my time trying to explain 'common sense' and 'empathy for the game' to you. Your comments regarding the CORE programme are extremely misguided and do a disservice to the...

    Bloody Players

It doesn't, and you know it doesn't. Don't be a prat. But that's not what I'm saying. I'm saying that is the message that is being delivered from the FA at the moment - Dan Meeson and his colleagues eulogize about 'what does football expect' at CORE meetings and the like, and quite rightly so...

    Bloody Players

Exactly this. The big buzz at the moment (particularly from the FA) is 'what does football expect?' 'Football' expects that a player who is bleeding should be allowed to leave the pitch to get himself sorted out without seeking the express permission of the referee, without getting a caution...

    Man City vs Liverpool

Is that on 'rate the ref' Rusty? I used to look on there but don't bother anymore. More like 'slate the ref'!!
