Does anyone know what the rules are for 9v9 youth football regarding slide tackles? Are they outlawed completely at this age? UK based using FA rules. Thanks

They should come down on the club like a tonne of bricks. A huge points deduction minimum.

I've found some other footage on Youtube. He does indeed give a penalty and yellow card first. The players have the ball on the spot while VAR is checking and they switch to the free kick and red card when confirmed. He's just forgotten to cancel the yellow card before issuing the red.

Not sure you can say he's 'nowhere near the ball', he gets pretty close to it IMO. If it's a cynical and tactical foul it seems a strange thing to do in the 11th minute knowing you're going to get a red card.

In my sons league (U10, 7v7 and no offside) they have the 'Powerplay' rule where you can bring an extra player on if a team goes 4 goals behind but i don't think it applies once you go to 9v9 with offside. EDIT: Found this...

Decision looks correct. Just outside area and red card. In real time I think I'd have given the penalty, he practically ends up in the middle of the area after the foul ! VAR is good for something after all...
