    Forest Vs Liverpool

Thanks for reply. Another example: Blues have ball it deflects off the ref to the Yellows, ref blows up and gives drop ball to Blues. i.e. the whistle comes after the decision to stop - the whistle isn't some absolute time/position of when play is stopped. So..... why are so few...

    Forest Vs Liverpool

Newish referee here. Asking you as L4. My understanding is the referee stops the game, and then some time later blows his whistle. i.e. the whistle isn't an indication of where the referee decided to stop play. So in this example the ref may have decided to stop play while still in the box...

    Social Media

Newish ref, had a break, restarted doing the odd line. Today was a Step 7 game which was a bit depressing. Players questioning the refs ability with many of them not up to date with the recent rule changes. Top it off, finishing with tarnishing match officials on social media. Is there, or...

    Tournament Cards and Reporting

Morning, Newish Ref here. Was spectating at my son's tournament yesterday. It was U16, and some pretty rough tackles, ending in one large lad punching a couple of the opposition players. No one hurt thankfully. He was given a red card, and the game abandoned. My question is do games...

    offside offence - interfering

Thanks for further reply. Obviously straying away from main topic, but interesting. Some PL teams now use 'blockers' at corners, which in a away is what this lone striker is trying to achieve. My guess is you are allowed to 'just be' in your position, and if that happens to be in the way so...

    offside offence - interfering

Just as an interesting next step. The ball is with the winger who is holding possession... meanwhile the keeper tries to move around the box and is effectively getting blocked in every direction he goes (there is now contact).... while that is not 'interfering' as per the 4 bullet points, is it...

    offside offence - interfering

Hi there. Newish Ref. Just seeking clarification over a match incident while as linesman. Attack is building. The 'back four' are holding a line on edge of penalty area. The goalkeeper is virtually on his line, with a lone striker lingering directly in front of him but about 1m away. The...

    GK - Handball DOGSO/SPA

Tried to delete this post after I realised my error.. can't find option.....

    GK - Handball DOGSO/SPA

Duh.... I guess this is all related to inside the PA.... outside same rules as outfield players?

    GK - Handball DOGSO/SPA

Reading through LOTG, trying to clarify this. - IF the GK comes out of PA and handles to SPA or DOGSO it looks like there is no sanction? - the only sanction appears to be SPA/DOGSO from a 2nd touch after restart? Am I correct?

    Vaping linesman at U12?

Thanks guys. Instinctively feels like something I shouldn't be involved in at this level. I asked the question in case I was missing one of my duties...
