Did Martin Atkinson get it wrong?

surely he should have stopped play and awarded an indirect freekick when Hoolihan touched the ball? Playing with incorrect equipment. That goal was awarded incorrectly. Correct me if Im wrong though.

    Diversity

So someone makes an unsubstantiated or unproven charge against a whole race of people but that post stays and mine is deleted?

What would you have done in this situation?

Difficult decision to make for the referee . He's jumped with his elbow but the key point is he hasnt thrown it. I was looking for movement of the elbow but there wasnt any. I would have given only a freekick with a strong word to Lee to keep his elbows down next time.

    Referee given red card!

Depends if said player is being cynical/belittling me by his action.

Playing with only one boot on

Thanks Brian. Been a Levl 4 but still learning. I've always awarded IDFK for incorrect equipment and never had any complaints. I was right but wrong. The IDFK should be for playing in a dangerous manner (to himself. try explaining that to a player :). I think I'll stick to incorrect equipment...

    No sense of humour

Funny thing i heard this weekend. Player miscontrols a pass and as the ball rolls away from him he uttered under his breath " Come here you slag"! First time hearing that :)

    not my best game

Seems you came out a stronger and a better referee. Easy games will do you no good and most importantly you did not shy away from using your cards though you shouldnt rely on them too much. Word of advice: when a player openly/publicly challenges your authority/control especially at the...

    Thought's? Silly Boy

As knights of the whistle, we have a clear choice. We can stop this if we want. Some of us enjoy the status quo and almost think its a badge of honour to put up with dissent/abuse. It's worrying when a referee thinks he has a responsibility to keep 22 players on the pitch. That's the...

    Thought's? Silly Boy

when was the last time you heard a rugby referee having to go through what football referee's endure? Or maybe rugby players don't get fustrated or maybe they are more disciplined or less violent? In rugby the rules are applied uniformly without leaving each referee to "his own" or making...

    Thought's? Silly Boy

SM - Each to their own though! that's the problem with football. You dont get this in rugby (sorry if you've heard it before). A lot things are wrongly classified as dissent rather than OFFINABUS, then players go scot free for real dissent rather than the mandatory caution. No wonder...

    Thought's? Silly Boy

sorry but if a player calls me USELESS he's walking! The bollocking from his team mates shows clearly you missed a sending off. and you let the same player get away again from a dissent caution? when i caution a player for dissent, i normally call over the captain and inform them both in...

What a shocker by Lee Probert

Let's not mince words here or try to defend the indefensible. His performance wasn't good enough today. Missed 3 stonewall penalties and cautions. Yes I'm a Liverpool fan BTW. At times he was making crucial decisions about 20 yards away. He surely doesn't belong to the same group as Clatts

    Junior/Youth Abandonment

Don't be so quick to blame the NHS official. Cuts to services means we have to prioritise and football injuries are apparently unimportant.

    Anthony Taylor

I've never seen him have a good game. He's honestly just not good enough
