See my thread that I started a few weeks ago now.
Previously tiers 3 & 4 were FA appointed referees (Levels 4/5) and County appointed ARs (Level 7 downwards)
This season FA will appoint all officials - Level 4s middles and Levels 5 & 6 as ARs (ARs nominated by County FAs)
Worth remembering that although to you this is a massive game - to the players and everyone else, you're just another referee.
They won't moan anymore or less if you make a decision they don't agree with - its what happens.
Hopefully there won't be any early dramas, and you'll be surprised...
Very good serve, but I'm coming back with this rather impressive return (I think!);)
The first mention of team LISTS is prefaced with this
"If the competition rules state that all players and substitutes must be named......................"
Therefore surely all subsequent mentions only apply...
Not sure if worth pointing out and/or it changes anything, but don't forget although subs DO need to be named and that list given to the refereee as per LOTG, team sheets and their details are competition rules only - no mention of them in LOTG.
Agree. To have a serious word, think I would have to see and maybe partially hear the dissent. You usually can witness at least something going on.
In my 'unsighted' scenario, I agree 100%, you can't go flashing the cards based on an unqualified assistant's say so.
Further, I think if you DID...
Purely coincidentally one of the GKs in the U16 final I was AR on was outstanding. It went to pens, and the refereeing team had a quick chat about who we thought would win - I chose his team because I was so impressed and lo and behold he DID make the only save in the pen shoot out, ensuring his...
Rightly or wrongly, I always say in my, (now rare) pre match to CARS, if anyone has a word with you let me know and I'll have a word with them.
This allows leeway on how to sanction - depending on what I ACTUALLY hear/see.
Back to the original question.
If you don't hear the exact words said to the CAR, would you take his/her word for it and dismiss/caution as necessary?
Further, if you haven't seen/heard anything - ball up other end of field from 'offending' player and CAR for example - would you still issue a...
I think they contact some returning referees directly, but I got mine by replying to a general "Who wants to do these games?" email from County FA.
They had at least 3 finals days, all held at Middlesex FA's HQ - Rectory Park. Not sure some of the teams - including those from...
I think Bester may have a point. Form my conversations with level 4s and even the occasional 3 on these games, many are not too keen on officiating on the Women's games and almost without fail, they have had to travel a fair distance for the privilege.
Of course the downside is that you will...
