Can it get any worse?

The Referee Store
Absolutely it can get worse, and it will unless something is done at an international level to get rid of this type of behaviour.

In 2014 a referee in America dies after getting punched by a player who he was trying to give a red card too.

There are also numerous stories of referees in South America getting attacked and killed.

Geez, Twitterami is shocked in exposure shocker!
Bit of an over reaction to a simple bye bye, these columns look like click bait garbage for advertisers and these minor over blown stories seem to fill them up!

I think it's very serious tbh and deserves a big punishment. Makes you worry if he carries that attitude to women and/or people of authority in the outside world

Exactly this. It’s shocking behaviour that people think it’s acceptable to act like this
14 is also an age where they should know the implications of that behaviour and what it means; not like a child who doesn't understand the severity of what the say

What's also worrying is that the article mentions the spectators were angry at the ref for dismissing him (although it's unclear if it was as a result of sending him off or the decision before that

Is it that shocking, really, really. It’s happened for years and no one gave a toss. Now every one is shocked about just about anything! He’d of had a clip round the ear back in the day and deserved it too. He’d of thought twice next time!

A 14 year old (possibly younger) whipps out his little fela to a female referee and tells her to suck my rooster, then 20 adult spectators support him and continue to abuse the referee. The referee gets no support from club officials. If you think this is not at the very serious end of referee abuse, then I think football has an even bigger problem than I previously thought.

It's getting so bad and frequent that we have become desensitised to it.

Is it shocking that a man exposes himself and asks a woman to perform sexual acts without consent? Yes, yes it is.

Let's forget that it's football.
This is a criminal offence and has been for a very long time. Indecently exposing yourself in a public place can carry a prison sentence. So let's not pretend it's okay to go about exposing yourself.
Why don't you try it down the pub tonight to the bar maid and see what the result is?

Fully agree

I’m not saying it’s ok, but I’m equally I’m not shocked that an immature 14 years old whips out his old man in a childish act of defiance. There are lots of things that shock me but this is an absolute non story, yesterdays chip shop paper back in the day. Smack his hand/ ban him if you like, it’s a nothing story! Move on....

I do understand what you're saying, I just think it's a bit more severe and needs properly punishing for it

I am really disappointed in some of the comments in this thread. Comments like 'nothing story,' 'bit dramatic' and 'is it that shocking?'

I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion. My opinion is this is a shocking story, the behaviour is completely unacceptable whether it is in a footballing or non-football environment.

As I say, everyone entitled to their own opinion.

I'm not easily shocked.....You don't get this long in the tooth for this little non-story to raise more than a couple frown muscles... He's a prat, give him a slap, stop his xbox!

I don't know what the laws are in Italy, but in the UK whipping your chap out in public and inviting someone to chow down would not only be indecent exposure (or whatever the "proper" term is) but also sexual harassment, and could quite easily see you having to sign a register for the foreseeable future.

Some of the comments on this thread aren't far of the old excuse of "boys will be boys" when trying to excuse unacceptable behaviour.
