Are you putting that through ref?

Let me just put this scenario to you, i realise plenty on here might not do junior games.

You have an U9 game, DOGSO goalkeeper red card, you send the keeper off.

Are you putting that through , im playing devils advocate a bit here.
From what I've seen of U9's, there's no such thing as an OGSO

Yeah, definitely. I'd be much less likely to show the card that I would in an adults match in the first place, but once it's shown, it's going to be submitted.

Assuming because he is 9?

I'd be disappointed if anyone on this forum doesn't. Wouldn't it be hypocritical if you didn't since you sent him off in the first place. Report it and let the league decide what to do with it.

It's my day to agree with @one . . .

The decision point is when you reach in your pocket. You either send off the player or you don't; if you send off, you report.

Trust me I coach that age group, the ball could be on the line about to roll in and I still wouldn't be sure of it!

That said, unless a kid at that age is getting violent I'm very unlikely to get a card out at all.

Nobody wants to see cards at u9s and no one expects it surely. If you can't manage an 8 year old who's solely there because he loves kicking the ball with his friends without carding then refereeing is going to be a tough gig. They're 8!

I think the point is the card comes out and off we go to WGS. At youth level I think there is a reluctence to use cards not from me but I know one youth ref who has been reffing for 8 years and has never used his red.

Most definitely. 😀
we, as referees should always make sure that out match administration is done. Let your local league(s) do what they do in sorting out any issues you report

For me personally, if a player asks if you're putting them through, I say yes and they usually go fair enough.

If they try to coerce or intimidate you into not putting them through, then you should put a report in.

If they're just asking, I usually just leave it as that as they're not actually asking me to not put it in, they're just asking if you are or aren't.

In my eyes, it's a bit of a far cry to penalise them for just asking a question if they're not arguing with your decision.

Edit: forgot to add, in your case it looks like he has tried to intimidate you into dropping the caution by saying he's going to mark you down. In that case, I'd happily agree that he can mark me down however he sees fit, and would also ask him his name to put in a report about his actions.

I get this all the time from players and unfortunately, I know some refs who don't put them in. They are the real issue which cause players to try their luck.

This weekend was asked the question in both my OA games. Was greeted with a swift reply of "please don't question my integrity and don't ever ask again!" I am cannot understand any referee that would not put the card through surely.
