Junior/Youth Major incident with parents & coaches

The Referee Store
Yes. The same age group.
It has not put me off, if anything it's made me more inspired almost to continue - things like what happened last week was what I was scared and nervous about before every game, now it's happened, I'm not so nervous.

Brilliant attitude young man.

UPDATE - I had the next game after last week's incident today!

It went very well, coaches were a lot friendlier, and was an all-round good match. One penalty and a few silly fouls given away, a little bit of mouth from the crowd but nothing I couldn't cope with haha

Thanks for all your support and advice guys! :)

Good job. There is always another better game around the corner!

Excellent, really pleased for you. One thing I didn't see mentioned earlier is the comment about someone being a 'qualified ref' and/or 'assessor/observer'. If that was true in my experience we wouldn't have the shortage of officials that we obviously have! More to the point, no qualified referee is likely to be on the sideline shouting abuse at a fellow referee, especially a young one. In other words, ignore that kind of intimidation, it's only designed to undermine you.

GET IN!

Its strange how we react to different things - my U16s game (incredibly competitive) on Saturday went like a dream despite being a chaotic affair with two reds! Everyone congratulated how I dealt with the game and how I attempted to manage the players who went - it was clear they were doing everything possible to walk!
By contrast - my OA game was a shocker. It was an easy fixture but I gave fouls that weren't, missed those that were and got 4/5 corner shouts wrong. Why? In theory I should've crumbled at the tougher game and laughed through the second.
The difference was my mindset. The OA game saw me walk past someone who assaulted me a few years ago and (though he didn't see me) - my head went and the game with it.

Many words later, my point is that your game can be greatly affected by your mindset. Yours was fabulous, mine wasn't. While so much about our games is out of our control, our mindset and approach isn't. Well done and keep going!
