Dutch Referee Blog - Week 23 Laws of the Game Quiz 2019-2020

The Referee Store
Good questions. All unusual situations we should know about.

Got Q5 wrong. Misread/misunderstood the the question. The substitute is a team mate and not an opponent who is in the offender's technical area.

One suggestion Jan. If these quizzes are targeted at general public and players then you can ignore this but if it is targeted at referees then it's better to use LOTG terminology to remove ambiguity. for example:

bench = technical area
dismissible offence = sending-off offence

Prepared to be shot down BUT on the GK question. I thought as long as attacker does not interfere with play then fine to play on but if even if 'he had no time to leave' if he plays/challenges for the ball then its a retake. Jan seems to say its a goal if he scores as in the question's scenario.

Very likely I have misread LOTG but can someone confirm?

Thanks

treat it like a quickly taken free kick

if he hangs around hoping to intercept by not being back far enough = retake

if he doesnt have the time to get out and the ball is played in error = goal (or play on)

As ES1 says, treat the goal kick like a free kick . . . if the defending team try to get the ball into play quickly and the ball hits an innocent forward, play continues. If the attacker "closes" the goal kick have it retaken. IFAB Circular 16 explains it all (sort of!)

Possibly :) . More accurate to say gutted on getting the quiz answer wrong despite knowing the correct decision on the scenario(s). It's the thing about quizzes, half of getting it right is understanding what the question is asking. The other half is obviously knowing the answer to that specific question (not a misunderstood one).
