Michael Oliver played a good advantage following a foul on Saka. He then went back an issued a caution to the West Ham player.

I thought we weren't supposed to do that any more? Did I misunderstand?

It was a caution for a reckless challenge, not spa. If you play advantage for spa then the chance is still there so the promising attack has not been stopped so there’s no need for a caution.

That was a classic case of reckless challenge rather than SPA. He absolutely wiped Saka out with a leg across his waist.

The point of the law change is you don't caution for SPA after an advantage as the challenge didn't actually stop a promising attack. But it doesn't apply when the challenge was reckless.

Good to see the new "everything is a penalty" directive only applies in some games.
That was a handball even LAST season!!
Honestly what are they playing at in the VAR box?

What about the Gabriel trip? I think if the West Ham player didn't add on the dramatic Harry Kane Dive to it, VAR may have given it? Gabriel clearly kicked/tripped him.

Struck him higher up the arm - into the green bit on the diagram. Play on.

I thought the first angle looked like a blatant dive but a later angle shows (what looks to me to be) a pretty clear trip. I don't know why it wasn't given - but I was extremely relieved (am an Arsenal fan).

VAR was very kind to us yesterday on at least three occasions - the Man U penalty retake was hilarious.
