I hate that because of VAR assistants don't flag anymore for obvious offsides.
Zaha was a good 2 or 3 yards offside but he has to wait until he has missed his shot/chance for the flag to go up. In that time he could cause injury to himself or others and it too wasted a few seconds, potentially a minute by the time the ball has been retrieved and taken to where it should be taken.
Think it was the Man City game yesterday where a player was offside (close this time), play went on and about a 30 seconds later, he raises his flag and runs back to the half way line where the offside occurred.
Personally think assistants should flag when they feel it is offside and that VAR only comes into it if a goal is scored and the assistant made a mistake in not flagging. If he has made a mistake in flagging, oh well. Its the same as basic throw in or corner or goal kicks, let alone free kicks in the middle of the park.
And before anyone says its a factual thing so let it play out as can be brought back, corners, throw in etc are factual but are not covered by VAR so why should an offside, if incorrectly given, be any different? I can understand if it resulted in a goal (but it wouldn't be as the play has stopped before it can happen) or sending off but it doesn't.
