Reviewing a Game

One of the teams from my Saturday game have kindly sent me a link of the match video recorded on one of those ball-tracking Vimeo cameras. I've not really had this before, so I'm not totally sure how to approach going through the footage, has anyone got any tips for what's best to do with this kind of recording?

I've got a few key incidents in mind that I already want to try and find: 3 x YC's, a handball no-call in the build up to one goal, a clash of heads where the restart proved contentious and a scuffle late on where one team was trying to kill time. I'm a little sceptical of focusing on positioning in this specific case due to the heat and the fact my watch tells me I ran around 1.5km less than I would normally means I already know my positioning will be less than ideal.

Would you generally just try and scrub through to these key incidents, or is there value in trying to watch what's going on in the quieter moments as well?

TBH I've only had a couple of these and I've watched the lot with a minimum of scrubbage. From the boring bits I noticed things about how I run, hold my arms, hold the whistle - was all really useful for me to be more self-aware. Of course, helps if it's a good game.

I like looking back at veo footage.

Was pleased to see that I got a Headbutt decision correct: but the camera really adds 10KG!!

I do find that the quality of veo is quite poor though, especially when it comes to action in the boxes.

I've had the first half running in the background while I have my lunch and have definitely picked up on a few things I wasn't expecting:

* 1st YC is definitely correct, so that was nice!
* There's a moment where I thought I was pulling a player in for a dressing-down with regards to him dissenting a decision - it definitely doesn't come across like that from a distance, so I need to work on "looking" stricter in those situations
* Two ball on the pitch situation - I was right in saying the aggrieved team could have sorted this by just throwing the extra ball off when I told them to at least!
* But directly following that I'm clearly distracted and let two fouls go that I probably should have whistled for, one each way.
* Little bit of handbags when a player stood on another - I'm less sure this was accidental than I was at the time, but could go either way on it. What is clear from the video is that I stopped play with no indication of the restart, which gave me a second argument when I did restart with a FK one team didn't expect.
* Missed a handball in the wall from a FK near the end of the half - just a little too focused on the drop zone, silly little mistake to make

Two more YC's, all the goals and a few more scuffles to look forward to later with the second half!
