AFCON Final

Imagine being that referee. Would you confidently abandon the game in the knowledge there's also a flip side where it could be career over if it's deemed you did the wrong thing?
My comment wasn't a dig at the referee. I think he did everything right. It was about the decision to overturn the result based on a far-fetched interpretation of the rules that IMO was not meant for this situation.

Anyway. This is not the end of the story but the beginning of a saga. Senegal have appealed.

I think a better scenario would be to ban Senegal from the next AFCON, strong message without impacting on the completed final.

The moment has passed now anyway (for both teams).

Are there any benefits (financial?) to being the reigning AFCON champs when the next tournament kicks off?

Even if the decision is upheld, it ain't like Morocco gets to dance around a packed stadium with the trophy in hand on the day is it?

Africa will always be corrupt and so none of this is any real surprise. If it were down to me, I'd just be declaring the whole tournament null and void and instructing both nations to concentrate on their forthcoming World Cup endeavours.

Be funny if they both got drawn against each other in the knock-out stages though eh? :D

I won't use the C word but it is not limited to Africa and runs all the up and down. It is just more obvious in Africa now. As Obvious as it was with FIFA a decade ago.

Anyone see the irony that the head of the organisation that suspends players for making political statements awards Trump a peace prize after Trump made public statements that he deserved the Nobel peace prize but didn't get it.
