We have it laid down in 'common knowledge' at the Shropshire FA, but yes I guess it's up to the individual ref to stick to his/her guns that the respect barrier is there for a reason and will be followed. I do. I will never allow anyone to be behind the goals.

@Padfoot is totally correct. Whichever side of the pitch the coaches choose as their technical area, the other side then becomes the spectators respect line. Under no circumstances are parents or even coaches allowed to stand behind goals giving instructions.

@ByronCoach its good to see a coach come on here for advice. There are coaches who think they know the LOTG better than the refs (who have vast knowledge and qualifications) so it's good to see you asking for advice. Please keep coming back. I find the guys on here are always willing to help.

Totally correct decision. I always do pre-match talk with 'under no circumstances are players, coaches or parents to abuse the AR's'. They are as equally important as the ref.

You're right Charlie. Before I did my course I'd flick the coin and let the winner choose what he wanted.

One thing I can't get my head round that we were taught on our level 7 course is that the winners of the coin toss choose ends and the losers get kick off. The winners don't get the choice of either. Is this how you guys were taught or do you do it differently?
