    WRCFA Coloured Shirts

Got the same email yesterday, seemed strange they didn't specify a chosen colour like many other CFA's. I guess it might encourage more people just to stick with black, but you know most will buy a second colour, even if only to wear it once.

    Man U v Ajax

The report for Skomina's performance is a good read - https://www.docdroid.net/x7RfCGH/ajamnu-240517-damir-skomina-report.pdf.html#page=2

    Man U v Ajax

Only thing worth discussing, what was Pogba's celebratory dance about! One of the worst things I've seen.

    Accepting Facebook requests

Where I work we are simply told not to post anything on social media that we wouldn't say/do in the office or anything that is likely to be considered illegal/offensive. If you do, then depending on the severity will depend on the level of disciplinary action.

    Sin Bins - 17/18 Season

They could have piloted it at the European U17 tournament currently being played alongside the trial of the new penalty shootout proposal. Seems an ideal platform to trial it at a high standard of football to see if it would be worthwhile.

    Scott Brown! Agree?

I don't referee to risk getting the proverbial knocked out of me so I sure as hell won't go looking for potential trouble by getting involved. Step back, takes notes and then deal with the aftermath. In this example the officials felt he was in a safe enough environment to get actively involved...

    Sin Bins - 17/18 Season

In my view we won't really know if it will be successful until it is trialled. I am still undecided if I think it is a good idea or not. In principle I believe it is and could work, but until I've seen it "in action" I don't know. Interestingly I was speaking to the two managers from my game...

Kevin Friend - Middlesbrough v Man City

He also missed the second caution for Forshaw shortly after his first, instead chose to play advantage. I hope the FA follow the SFA's stance on the "diving" and administer retrospective bans for it (just don't follow their lead in other areas, like overturning red cards for Scott Brown type...

    Advantage woe

It's difficult to judge at times. As others have said 9/10 times nothing good comes of it. Good example from the weekend in the Boro v City game where Kevin Friend played advantage following Forshaw's late challenge which led to nothing but should have been a second caution. As he played the...

    Promotion 17/18

As zarathustra said we rely on spreadsheets, although so far this season this hasn't happened as it has been restricted to emailing fixtures as and when appointed. It works, although for the last couple of months our fixtures sec has taken to doing them weekly which doesn't help.

    Nearly the end of 16/17

Middle this weekend in what should have been the final day. The Division 1 title decider remains outstanding having been postponed twice in recent weeks, was appointed to that both times so hoping to be again and third time lucky it gets played.

    Ref: Stories from the weekend

I didn't think it painted the ex-pro (cannot recall his name) in a particularly good light. It always seemed to show him moaning because, as he was an ex-pro he should, by right be fast tracked to the top and refereeing top flight football without having to start where we all do and work our way...

Where do you put your flags at the end of the season?

The kids usually turn them into curtains for their play house as they did last season.

    Promotion 17/18

What I don't agree with is a candidate going for a 6-5 promotion having one of their observations on an OA Sunday League game. Surely this wouldn't give a good reflection on this officials ability to handle games at a higher level?

    Ref: Stories from the weekend

I try to talk to the players during games and it works. There are less surprises when you give a decision after advising "no hands" etc and often get players saying to the offender, "he has just told you not to do it" when you blow. My observer commented on it in a recent game and said it was a...

    Promotion 17/18

Not going to plan, since the start of September I've had 3 observations scheduled and only 1 of the games went ahead (observation was passed). Also had no middle since that game either as all games have been postponed due to teams unable to put a side together. The league only has 2 more weeks...

    Club marks

We were told by our RDO at our promotion evening they do not take club marks into consideration at 7-6 as they expect them to be inaccurate. I guess we will wait and see come March.

Sky Sports - Referee programme last night

I thought it was interesting. BT Sport are doing one tonight, but from what I have read seems to be focused on referees from differing levels. It is unlikely to have the access to the PGMOL referees like Sky can get but should hopefully give a better insight into grassroots officials.

How has your promotion season gone?

Good start WilliamD - I could do with more of my games not being postponed. I should be racing through fixtures this time of year making it easier for when the "poor" weather arrives next season - so far only two games have been played since the promotion season started!

    Promotion 17/18

Awaiting my first observation report from the weekend. Annoyingly there aren't many games left in my local OA league this season, so going to have to look further afield for some more games before the close of the season. Luckily my observer this weekend was also a ref sec for an OA league in...
