    Ipswich penalty versus Birmingham City

I didn't think it was a penalty. No one in the ground was expecting it. 1:40ish

Open Age Would you have done the same?

If you aren't enjoying it now, what difference will running the line at Step 4 make? At the moment you are probably assisting at Step 5/6/7?

    Pass Back

So @Duncan Francis @Denis McCarthy what you're saying is that you can legally play the ball pack to the goalkeeper deliberately by using you knee, thigh or shin? So imagine next week defender traps the ball then knee's it to his goal keeper? Play on? Or Flicks the ball up and knee's it on the...

    Pass Back

Okay, kick the ball with your foot, pass the ball with any part of your leg, if it deliberately to the goalkeeper and he picks it up then IDFK from where he touches it with his hands.

    Pass Back

Leg, any part of your leg.

    Different types of assessors

You're the Perfect Type of assessor. One who has empathy for the game, and doesn't go technical on a referee when he/she manages a game which what feels right for everyone at the time.

Contact doesn't mean foul. Bottle? Sometimes the stronger referee doesn't give a penalty or foul when people are shouting for it, thats not bottling something. That's strong refereeing and going by your convictions.

    Possible extraordinary report?

Imo you should of sent him off. I don't know what you can do now because you didn't. Chalk it down to experience and next time do it?

Yeah great you were assessing Brian.

You don't have to know the score to know who's losing.....

I think if you sleep on it you will realise your being over sensitive and its not really worth reporting. Just a come back to put him in his place would of done. To be an assessor you need to know how to referee you stick to your job and I will stick to mine. He obviously thought you did well...

    Names that sound like 'ref'

Yeah used to get it all the time Jeff. If they want you you will know.

Open Age "He made a meal of it ref, you should disregard the foul!"

I completely agree. But inside the box and around it where a team can get a goal scoring opportunity I personally only want to give stone wall penalties. Nothing soft that could be a talking point after if the team scored to make you remembered.

    Pass Back

It's only an offense when the keeper touches it with his hands. Not directly into the goal?

Can I Shoot From The Kick Off Ref?

    Twice in games I've done.

Open Age "He made a meal of it ref, you should disregard the foul!"

Hard to say if your not there. If you're confident then give it, then if its soft and he goes down easy he's forcing you to make a decision. Do you A) Give a penalty? B) Play on? or C) Caution for simulation. If it's soft I will go for B. Unless he's done a swan dive or gone down asking then...

    howard webb

I heard a bit in the club house before my game. He was just trying to be objective. We all know Mike Dean is a very good referee to get where he is and sustain his position for all this time. But if we manage incidents like yesterday in the same way he did, we won't be getting promoted that season.

    Showing the wrong card

I don't think you were talked down. It's the referee who decides what shade of card is used not an Assistant. The assistant passes the referee the information and the referee makes their decision.
