No. Close competitive game. I'd of not made an issue out of it, I wouldn't of let the player get the final say. Whether I was the assistant or referee.
As Referee, you have to be aware of the whole match control and consistency. I had an assistant from the first foul he gave wasn't consistent...
And that is a perfect quote of how you should assist. Some people struggle with it, most are great.
No I didn't ignore my assistant, I listened to the facts and dealt with it appropriately.
Great team work I think.
No I think MO applied law correctly.
The premier league is a global entertainment product where people are being entertained. The decision is an opinon so fine to allow.
Oh I'm with you. I cover the same scenario, I.e. go up or go down tell me what has happened. It was a challenging game and really quite nothing and for me the assistant was being touchy. So I pleased him and kept match control and respect for my whole team by managing it and getting an apology...
Sounds like you just need to communicate with the player that he hasn't been fouled then try to prevent him from making a rash challenge by communicating again before making his reckless challenge. It might not prevent it but shows your aware to all the players and clubs. Then you have no option...
I think you probably hung around after the goal was scored and invited the dissent? If there has been a challenge they thinks a foul then a goal is scored from that move. Get yourself into the opposite half of the pitch, if they come at you easy caution sold to everyone. Hang around in their...
Fair enough. I've never heard the words highly unfair on a football pitch near me said by anyone. :p
What was the reaction when you asked for his name and informed him that you were sending him off?
I respect your tolerance level. I had an assistant recently who was called a similar word...
We don't half look to deep at things us referee's. Half of a city celebrating a great goal and one man with a whistle is intent on spoiling the party and bringing the attention to himself when the other team can see how great it is.
How experienced is the referee you had?
I'm sure most of us here would agree after the public word. His next challenge he would of just set himself up to be booked regardless of the fact it was two footed.
The way you've described it, I'm guessing that there was no contact with your player so...
I think he got the two challenge's right, both on the strong side of reckless.
The Cabaye penalty no referee would of seen and would have been very soft. And the Nasri one I can't remember?
I'm with @SM on this.
If you give the penalty no one will be talking about the shot after the game, either team IMO.
If you don't give the penalty you will be talked about and remembered for the next few times you referee them and will have to work harder to earn back their respect.
For me...
So with us all being members of our local society's. What does the actual National RA do for us? Other than the insurance, which is probably worthless and could be obtained by our own societies if we negotiated with an independent insurance company.
