Yes! Mignolet gets nailed for >6 seconds. :-)

If you haven't seen it - Liverpool vs Bordeaux. Mignolet holds the ball too long and the ref awards an indirect free kick. Finally! And whaddya know? Bordeaux score. "They've just counted it and it was 20 seconds," says the BBC.

    Offside on a Goal Kick & a question ?

I first learned of the "ball doesn't have to be stationary at a goal kick" thing when I heard a ref say an assessor has pulled him up for ordering a retake on a moving ball. "Nothing in the LOTG, apparently" - and, upon checking, I decided he was right. Sure enough, a few games later, I have the...

    Jamie Vardy

Any chance we could stick to the fascinating subject of whether or not someone's offside? There are probably other places we could go if we wanted to make fun of a person's face.

Junior/Youth Not had a good game today

Doesn't sound that bad. But I do echo the above that you mostly seem sorry/sad that you missed the chance to give out some red cards, which I'm pretty sure isn't quite what reffing is about. When you say you had a dozen players arguing with you, what do you mean? I take it one set was arguing...

    Jamie Vardy

Linesman/assessor is by the by - easy one to miss at full speed - but what's Shearer's excuse when he's looking right at a freeze frame of it and stating with such conviction, "He's not offside"?

    Offside on a Goal Kick & a question ?

Previous goal kicks/stationary ball discussion here. Pretty much clears it up. In a nutshell: yes, the ball should be stationary.

    Quick free kick...

So easy to manage. Guy runs off with the ball. Ref blows whistle. Probably everyone calms down, but if some attackers say, what ref? we wanted a quick one, ref says, yeah boys, I know, but I'd already said "on the whistle, did ya not hear me? You guys heard me, right?" And defenders nod and ref...

    Offside on a Goal Kick & a question ?

I'll echo all and say how nice it is to find a coach looking to learn something about the Laws of the Game. They're online if you want it straight from the horse's mouth - though I'm sure the refs here would love a chance to answer any more questions you might have. No need to answer your...

    Referee floored by player

How cool, though, if ref rolls over, watches as best he can, and lets the attack unfold? Assistant's got it covered. At least let 'em have a shot. :-)

Dartford v Maidstone, offside or not? Ref reverses assistant's flag.

I think it should have been disallowed. I think the player in the offside position clearly prevented the goalkeeper from making a proper attempt to dive for the ball. He makes a quarter dive at best. He immediately appeals. Easily said sitting here though. Wouldn't be surprised if the actual...

    Referee floored by player

Number one, I didn't say that Kes. But I do owe you one so, fair enough. Number two, what about this?

    Referee floored by player

It's from about a month ago but haven't seen it mentioned on here... Classic line from the commentator: "I'm not too sure what happened to the official there". And not just a funny vid but also a question in Law: was the referee right to stop play?

would any of you have cautioned?

Nope. Not a caution in a million years. Not at any age. If it's to safeguard health, all players have my implicit permission, always. On a related note: anyone ever have a player ask for a yellow for an opponent leaving the pitch? I never have; I doubt even 0.1% of them know it's in the book...
