    what would you do?

I'd have disallowed it. I've had several of those in games and the players have never known the Law, even when some of them said they were qualified referees. Obviously in such a situation explaining to the captains is a good idea too, to diffuse the anger and confusion. I would hope that...

    Proposed Changes for 2014/15?

Only problem with ro-ro subs is how often they do it. When it starts being every five minutes it gets a bit much.

    Goal kicks

Yeah, but who's gonna listen to an eight-year-old? ;) Also, Hendrie would have potted it no problem. Top corner, probably. With a bit of side on it. I think you're thinking Colin Hendry. Or, rather, Gary McAllister. :D As for the "rolling ball on a goal kick" - first I heard of this was when...

    6 second rule

Seems like in the Premier league they're regularly allowed to take up to 15 seconds to release the ball. Makes me go "grrrrrrr" when you know on a Sunday players'll be in your ear if a keeper holds onto it for longer than 4. Why do the boys at the top make these rules and then not implement...

    Offside Clarfication

    1. Offside. 2. Depends whether the teammate was behind the ball when the pass was played.

    Sidwell header to keeper

Law 12: I guess, by the strict letter of the Law, the answer would have to be "no". The interpretation doesn't shed any light either, just repeats the Law. My own interpretation, however, would be that the defender is deliberately leaving the ball for the keeper, having deliberately kicked it...

    West Ham vs. Man Utd

Rooney's goal - meh. Number one, keeper should have stopped that easy if he hadn't got all dizzy and fallen over. Number two, I've scored a better one than that from the half-way line and I'd say I'm a pretty average player. Seems like if Rooney does it it's automatically "best one ever". His...

    Mistaken identity

Intent's got nothing to do with it. Law 12: Furthermore, from the interpretation of Law 12: Did AOC deny a goal? Obviously not. Therefore, impossible to give him a retrospective red card. On the other hand, would Arsenal have appealed had Marriner sent off the right player? Difficult to...

    Sidwell header to keeper

Yep, that one's a definite infringement in my opinion.

    Sidwell header to keeper

I'd say no free kick. The first touch is not a deliberate attempt to set up a header back to the keeper. As the OP said, it's a bad touch, not an attempt to circumvent the Law.

    Mistaken identity

Happened to Preston earlier in the season - wrong man sent off, red card rescinded, right man banned. The interesting thing in this case might be if the video shows the ball wasn't going into the net. Can they really give a player a retrospective red card for DOGSO when it wasn't even going to...

    What would you do?

Hm. We need to clear things up a little here. If the handball is given technically play stops right there so it doesn't matter what happens afterwards. Also, you can't really give advantage to a player in an offside position. Finally, you should only play advantage in preference to awarding a...

    Man utd vs Liverpool

No? What about a yellow then? Deliberate handball. In the box. To prevent Suarez from being ten yards out with just the keeper to beat?

    What would you do?

What a gong show! Here's what happens: Hertha Berlin player shoots. Nürnberg guy handballs on the line. Ramos (Berlin) puts it in the net but the goal is disallowed because he was offside when the original shot was taken. Therefore: no goal, but should be penalty and red card for Petrak...

    Man utd vs Liverpool

What are the chances that if he wasn't already on a yellow Rafael woulda had one for the handball? I'd say pretty much almost certain. PS Are you sure the player didn't say, "Is it because you're a b*stard"? ;)

    Hull City vs. Manchester City

Did he definitely purposefully spit? Or is it possible he was saying a word that began with "p"? Every time I watch a Premier League game these days I think, pah, I could do better than that. Also, I'm a damn sight better looking than Lee Mason, which is perhaps even more important than...

    Throw-ins

Just watched the Hull-City game and saw two occasions where a throw-in was taken at least twenty yards behind where the ball went out. I don't like that. Can't understand why it's tolerated at the top level. Certainly, not what I've been told to do, or enforce, or feel is correct. A reminder of...
