Think he got the benefit of any doubt on that call , its one of those that looked more offside than it actually was !
He deserves the bit of luck anyway ...hard working forward who has come from nothing and fully appreciates the life he has .....A dying breed
I fear Mr Maclaren may be gone by...
I think ...judging by the replies, that we have again touched on a very grey area in the LAWS.
Having re watched the clip I still have to stay in the Offside camp as IMO the striker being so close to the keeper has impeded him .
Maybe not his movement but he has impeded his judgement .
That's a bit of a gotta be there situation !!
If you think he has punted the ball at the strikers head deliberately he should be off .... but you cant really book him for accidently hitting him in the head with a Fk ?
If the defender wants a quick free kick and it hits the striker you should play on ,so long as you are positive that the player has not got in the way of the FK deliberately !
As the Fk you describe has hit the striker in the head from 3 yards I would be stopping the game ( head injury...
Had to watch this 3 or 4 times and I'm close to sitting on the fence keeper probably wasn't saving it ...BUT with the adaptation of the offside law and the fact my assistant had flagged ? I would be inclined to give the offside he is standing 2ft away keeper in an offside position and must...
@GLANTRAETHFAN , put the rope down mate and step away from the edge of the building
All referees get things wrong...... at all levels
The important thing is to learn from every game you do.... and all the self improvement points you give yourself on the way home in the car ...try to take...
I would be giving that all day long no advantage gained it is a penalty ....cannot believe that wasn't given also costa should have been booked for diving !!!
Jack ....asking the managers if they want to continue is a big mistake mate , your leaving yourself open to all sorts of problems..... especially if one team is losing ? You must make the call ....and someone being injured should not be a reason to call a game off ? Running out of daylight...
Yes totally agree should be down to 10 ......but....... down the park in division 3 on a Sunday Morning I think a quiet word with the manager should be sufficient .....Common Sense......... as said above
As I say @RefereeingBooks I didn't even see the Stoke v Chelsea game was just a general observation ;) and if the advantage thread ever pops up again , though I stand by my beliefs on the issue ....I will stay well away from it :D
:confused: If a player has to jump over a tackle to avoid being taken out and then stumbles and falls it is 100% a foul and should be pulled back if the players stride is lost in any way .....even if he loses a couple a yard or so then another player comes over and wins the ball ....He...
A foul through ......is ........ ?
9/10 throws you see in the Premier League every week to add to the lack of 6 secs for keepers ! And the lack of second yellows for blatant offences ?
Think they make it up as they go
