Offensive player intentionaly inside the goal in a corner kick and comes to the playing area just as the corner is being kick.

In fairness... 5 years and about 600 games.... I have yet to see this. Jostling on the line... yes. Actually going deep into the goal... no. Of course I wouldn't have believe someone would run around the outside of a goal either until I saw the video posted on another site. :)

This is one of the few instances where disagree with One. The free kick example is a normal part of play. The free kick if located near a boundary may reasonably require a player to step off the field to have room to approach for the kick with the ultimate goal of getting the ball back in...

    OFFINABUS

Here was an "insta-red"... Player's team losing. Coach already tossed for irresponsible behavior about 3 minutes earlier. It has been a heated match with repeated dissent by losing team. 5 YC given (3/2) thus far when losing team player angry over a throw-in call decides (while part of a...

Offensive player intentionaly inside the goal in a corner kick and comes to the playing area just as the corner is being kick.

Keep in mind that the lines are part of the area they bound so to be "in the goal" and off the FOP, he can't be touching the line. Assuming he is completely in the goal, here is the issue.... he is doing this to make it more difficult to mark him and he may move to the ball through uncongested...

    Penalty or no?

I'm at a PK. Attacker got there first, played the ball away from GK who came in late. This is a foul charge in my opinion.

    Autistic Player

I never said how autism works. Please don't read into it. My point is, it is ultimately not responsibility of CR to develop an IEP (individualized education program in US schools) changing how a game is refereed. I agree with One that it may be good to know for my approach when I administer...

    Autistic Player

Hmmm.... i'm not unsympathetic toward the player but the conduct expectation and lotg are the same. Being the devil's advocate.... if you were to make allowances where would you stop? How about a kid who is diagnosed bi-polar? diagnosed with depression/anxiety? Oppositional/defiant ? How...

IDFK taken whilst substitute is happening

If they entered/left the FOP without permission of the CR then both are YC offenses. Depends on the level how you handle it but NO. Their misconduct is not grounds for pulling it back to the IFK. Grassroots level - "you guys were subbing without permission? That's on you guys. Technically...

    First game with a mentor

I picked up a couple for #3 over the years from other referees that I have adopted "Be smart" "smart here" and "I'm here" are all good reminders that I'm here and watching while not coaching. "Be smart. I'm here" tends to have the desired impact often and leaves no question or grumbling when...

    Controversial goal - injured keeper

I would have stopped play. I understand players that we are to stop play for a serious injury and also that players will go down when they have misplayed something or are out of position at times in an effort to bail themselves out which I am not inclined to oblige. This is not the case. This...

    Coin toss !!

The standard here in the states - Away captain calls. Winner of the toss chooses which end they wish to attack. Other team gets the kick

    Stoke v Derby biting incident

Wow.... going for the Suarez record! I can see how he might not have recognized it initially since allen grabs him and they are tied up like professional boxes in a "hug". HUGE miss though. Can't believe Allen wouldn't have shown bite marks to the referee. Did Allen get anything? Looked...

Hamilton V Celtic -Handball not Given

I am completely in the handball camp and do agree that it was likely the CR was screened. That being said, the player has slid, push himself up off the ground and lunges into the path of the attacker attempting to cross the ball. He has made a deliberate action lunging into the path of the...

    Open Age Pre-match routine

My routine for all levels - arrive early, inspect the pitch, greet the coaches/managers (equal time with both and not too lengthy), warm-up, stretch, inspect equipment and check player passes if needed. I do not get chatty with the teams. Retreat to mid-field and do a pre-game as a referee...

Entering fop without permission and interference.

Law 5 ...stops play if a player is seriously injured and ensures that the player is removed from the field of play. An injured player may not be treated on the field of play and may only re-enter after play has restarted; if the ball is in play, re-entry must be from the touchline but if the...

    Bad weekend

I'm totally with you. Abandon all the way Good for you for the RC. He earned it. Definitely offensive/insulting. Hits the 3 "P's " as I know them. Public, personal and provocative..... see ya later. Hopefully next weekend is a breeze

    Bad weekend

Wow. Brutal weekend mate. Chin up just how it goes some days. We dont utilize sin bin here. So you yc and binned as opposed to rc for offinabus? Although it's in LOTG I've got zero familiarity with its usage Good call on the abandonment. That is ridiculous.

Violent conduct in younger age groups

My first VC RC was to a U13. My youngest was to a U11 in a state championship tourney. Then U13 after the play was gone turned to other player, took a step and 2 hand shoved him in the chest launching him off his feet. No chippy challenge had preceded it. The U11 was the most shocking. 0-5...

    Best Holdall/Kitbag

Here in the states, most carry at least 2 of yellow, red, green but referees who work a lot or advanced refs typically carry all authorized colors (yellow, red, green, blue, black) plus some or all of the colors in long sleeves. Last weekend it was 20 degrees here. I wore three black under...
