Can you ever be to strict

As already noted. Unless you're nailed on for a goal there is no advantage anywhere. That's the assessor view. I've been accused of being too fussy but work on the theory that it's better to be fussy early on and back off later rather than start easy and then have to try to gain control when...

    Contrib Fitness Test

Didn't say that I agree with the test as it is. It's not orientated to refereeing in its current format but it is what we have so have to go with it. A series of timed sprints would be more in keeping with an AR's duties.

    Contrib Fitness Test

I'd welcome a minimum fitness level for anyone to run a line. Don't care what age, height, sex or anything else if you can't keep up you are not in position to give a credible decision. Don't see how age comes into this discussion. I've just got to level 4 at 43years old, 2 of the others from...

    Promotion to Level 4

Watch lower league games. Conference level down. That will give you an idea of what you can expect if all goes well.

    Contrib Fitness Test

Quite a few cfa's are asking all promotion seeking refs to do the test. Not necessarily passing it but to have an idea of the expected next step. It also shows a level of commitment to refereeing.

    From behind

It's a grammar thing. What I mean is that in a tackle from behind contact with the player is unavoidable, regardless of whether or not the ball is touched. In my day, lovely phrase, as long as a bit of contact with the ball was made it was deemed a good challenge. That's progress!!

FA Guidelines for Assistant Referees fouls in and around the penalty area

I saw it done a couple of seasons ago. I was junior on the game but the ref and AR had an awful time for 10 minutes or so.

FA Guidelines for Assistant Referees fouls in and around the penalty area

That's the FIFA expectation too. Not sure about the 3 seconds part. Rather flag straight up to get referees attention turn and run away from the goal line with the flag out in front. Word of warning though. Don't get carried away and run as far as the dug outs.

    From behind

Think safe refereeing. The chances of making a challenge from behind and ONLY getting the ball are remote. Therefore contact has to be made with the player in possession of the ball so it's a foul.

    pre season games

Have you got last seasons county handbook or league handbook. You could try picking out your half dozen nearest club and calling them. Obviously you'll need to aim for your lower leagues for the time being. Talk to your RDO and explain your frustration with your local RA and ask if he could have...

    Nike Kit

WFA haven't released the new badge yet. I've gone with the FAMOA badge for now. I'll tape a county badge on if necessary until the new badge is available embroidered. I reckon you'll be able to tuck the shorts into your socks!!

FA Guidelines for Assistant Referees fouls in and around the penalty area

Had my first experience of the new signal last night. FL assistant on my line. Gave a big flag then good step towards the corner. Very clear and easy enough to work with.

    Foreigner

If you plan to move around a bit in the UK you'll need to deal with each of the national associations. We may be one country but 4 nations.

    pre season games

Not quite that bad but close. Try contacting your local league secretaries. Your RDO should be able to help with that. That's the standard route. After that try contacting your local clubs and see what they have planned. Last try, have you joined your local RA? Explain your problem to your local...

    Nike Kit

While the sleeves are fairly long they are a better fit than last seasons so will not flap around.

    Nike Kit

Arrived today! Looks so much better than last seasons. But why on earth are the shorts sooooooo long. I'm only 5'8" and they reach my knees.

    County badges

County badges tend to be bigger than the FAMOA one so if you set the Velcro up for the FA then the county badge can look stuck on but you have to be close for it to show.
