    First assessment

As a first assessment on a line I'd take it. You have to be prepared to make a big decision within seconds of the start so have to be in position and ready. It's not easy staying with the defender but it's a must. I've found that talking to myself works. Simply work on the player nearest to the...

Assessed on Saturday! Mark vs. narrative?

Unfortunately you start out at 72 and can go up or down from there. Currently a mark of 75 + represents an exceptional game. You could have ben marked up on fitness which would have gotten you to 72. Unless you have a particularly challenging game it's hard to get much higher. It might be worth...

    Red or Pen ?

Don't wait for the pillock to pick the ball up. All you are doing is opening the can of worms that will undoubtedly upset both teams. If you have a red card offense don't mess around waiting for an advantage. Kill the game and play safe. Both teams would be expecting red for the trip so don't...

    Advantage + Offside

I reckon you're ok with the decision. If the attacker is going down and manages to get the pass away to an offside player by all means bring it back for the original offence but as he's regained balance then passed no problem. As I've said before all strikers are offside anyway!!

New Penalty Kick Signal for ARs

You'd no doubt have different instruction with a man in the stands. I'd suggest that like it or not you use the "new" signal. The players already know about it and it still brings them down on you when you give one.

    Heart rate monitor

I rarely use my monitor. I frightens the life out of me telling me that I'm at 90% max within 2 minutes of setting out on a 5 miler. Interesting to see how fast the rate comes down on a sprint session though, it does show that you can train your body.

    7 - 6 Exam

Don't answer the questions by what you'd do. Answer what you should do. There shouldn't be a difference but we all know that theory and practice aren't the same.

    Premier League Referee Equipment

8 kits is probably only 4 colours and long and short sleeves. Take out team colours and keepers probably only left with 1 colour, but who on earth wears long sleeves anyway apart from the Welsh. ;)

    Refereeing Pet Hates

What you really hate is last weeks ref.:) The unshaven bit could well be me. I just don't like shaving and periodically wear a beard but they are fashionable now so that buggers that up for me. The thing I dislike about fellow refs, socks and shirts and boots have been covered so I'll go with...
