    Second Half of Games

Firstly, what a thoroughly miserable day here in Kent, all football off. Some thoughts please.... I am finding that the first half of games is going really well, but the second half, it all tends to go pear-shaped. Yesterday was a good example. I refereed a league semi final with two good...

    West Brom v Brentford

Dear oh dear!!! I think the referee and assistant were both looking at each other to give it.

    Manchester City v Foxes

It's a strange one. It didn't even occur to me that it was a pen, until Jamie Carragher said. Thinking about it, why not?? Could VAR not have intervened??

    Shalke keeper red card

Harald Schumacher, remains the most disgraceful thing I have seen on a football pitch. Referee gave a goal kick...

    Referee gets pushed

Two reds. The foul is a no brainer, and it's very black and white, touch the referee and its a red card.

    Boston v Rochdale penalty

Defenders reaction, or lack of it says it all. Penalty.

One foul worse than the other - restart

I am confused...can someone answer simply "is the ball no longer in play when the foul is committed, or when the whistle is blown for the foul?" Thanks

    Circumventing the law

Can the referee show a yellow or red card to a player in the dressing room?

There seems to be an implication that if you have not set foot on the FOP for pre match inspection, that you can stop someone who commits OFFINABUS from playing, can someone outline the process please?

Nothing wrong with putting someone straight, it's how you do it. Padfoot did not have the interpersonal skills to do it effectively.

Yes he talked sense, was just unbelievably patronising, his standard rebuke was calling people "last week's ref". In the end I swerved any threads he was involved in and he stopped inexperienced referees posting sensible questions.

Can the referee show a yellow or red card to a player in the dressing room?

That seems to contradict where the law states that the referee can only take disciplinary action from entering the FOP for pre match inspection

Can the referee show a yellow or red card to a player in the dressing room?

So if you are walking to the FOP to do the pre match inspection, a player can come up to you and call you a 'wa**er', to your face without fear of sanction?

    Player-managers

I don't see that it matters, 2 x yellow = red If he gets one for stepping outside the technical area, comes on, then commits a reckless challenge, 2nd yellow and off.

    Another sin bin question...

Thanks, just to clarify they play the rest of the game with one player less. Correct?

    Another sin bin question...

Player shows dissent so you call him over and take name, etc and tell him he is off to the sin bin. He then shows further dissent. What do you do? Show him another card, Sin bin him for 20 minutes and tell him a substitute will have to replace him when the 20 minutes is up?

Another ref assault at the weekend

I have refereed the team during my time in Surrey, and I have checked, I know the referee, he is a good man and a good referee. This happened in the Intermediate division of the Surrey South Eastern Combination. I am shocked and saddened, suddenly these things appear closer to home.
