    First red card

You may also consider whether a card for the manager would have been appropriate, either during or after the game. Sounds as though he deserved one.

White Brits pay more for Ref course

When we run female-only courses, many participants report that they feel more comfortable than they would in an open course. If we can make course members comfortable, learning will follow.

White Brits pay more for Ref course

Such a good response, it appeared three times after a server glitch😕😁 The legislation includes: Positive Action: This is lawful and involves taking steps to improve equality and representation in the workplace. For example, employers can implement targeted recruitment strategies to attract...

    Sunderland v Everton

As he handled deliberately, the arm position is irrelevant.

White Brits pay more for Ref course

It's a story that resurfaces every now and again. Perfectly legal in England, but always a subject which splits opinions.

Changed drop ball law … devil in the detail

We are conscious of the fact that more than 50% of our newbies start in mini-soccer, where anticipation is impossible and proximity/viewing angles are the aim.

Changed drop ball law … devil in the detail

Law says "for the goalkeeper" so you need the goalkeeper present and they can play it or allow a team-mate to do so (as you say, coming in from 4 metres away) Presumably the defender was about to hoof it upfield? Another scenario would be an attacker running from 4 metres and getting to the ball...

    Junior/Youth Age group advice

Understand his approach, but the armband is a potential deterrent to abuse as any penalties/sanctions are at least doubled when the referee wears their Under-18 armband. If they don't wear it, the sanctions are not increased, even if the club know that the referee is under 18.

    Junior/Youth Age group advice

If you feel ready, accept it. If not yet ready, what is the issue? At the age of 16 (in England) you can do open age (I. e. Adult) matches. As @DavidObs has said already, accepting a fixture should be the norm. If you think you're not ready after refereeing 60 games, consider carefully what else...

Changed drop ball law … devil in the detail

I fully understand "transition", as do the folks in this group. From current experience, however, it is not a word that Referee Developers would use with new referees, as most of the younger course members struggle to understand words like "rapport", "transition", and similar. Sad but true.

    Ref equipments

As with cricket above, BUCS hockey umpires at National Level are centrally appointed from the national umpires' list, so senior.

Changed drop ball law … devil in the detail

Most of our teenage learners would not understand "transition" (!) but the idea is sound.

Changed drop ball law … devil in the detail

The diagonal is still shown in the positioning guidance in the good book, but the accompanying text makes it clear that it is a guide only, rather than a specific "must run here" line. With our new referees going through the course, we suggest being on the move at all times, trying to anticipate...

    Ref equipments

The University games are umpired by people on the ECB pathway, so some may have comms kits. The cost of vanishing spray is not something that most grassroots referees would welcome, given the other pressures on finances, and adds minimal value - it's an unnecessary gimmick at local level, in my...

Coach refusing to come on for injured player

Law says the player must leave once you have authorised the doctor (or in this case the coach) to enter.

Quick indirect free kick inside the box

I suspect the OP is referring to a clip doing the rounds currently where the goalkeeper was penalised for a "back pass" and put the ball down. Quick thinking attacker played it backwards to a team-mate, who scored.
