    Junior/Youth First ever DOGSO

Never had a DOGSO in 5 years of officiating. 2 for VC, 1 for SFP, 1 for 2 yellows. Can't think of any others off the top of my head, but that could well be it - I'd definitely describe myself as lenient

    Women's FA Cup

Did they have any fans? ;)

    Women's FA Cup

What a great game this was! Finished 5-4 to Long Eaton, with Rotherham hitting the bar on 89 minutes (although it may be a blessing that it stayed out, as we'd have had extra time ;) ) Red card for DOGSO meaning that there's paperwork to be done this evening - although not by me!! :p

    Women's FA Cup

I got an email through today confirming that I'm on the line in the 3rd qualifying round - Rotherham United v Long Eaton. Very happy indeed with being given the nod, bring it on!!

    Local RAs

As has been mentioned earlier in the thread, I think the major issue facing RAs is the (lack of) use of social media. With, stereotypically, the majority of members being older, and perhaps less inclined to use social media, there is less of a chance of reaching out to new, young, referees...

    Local RAs

Out of curiosity, how many people on here make use of their Local Referee's Association? This season will be my 5th in refereeing, and tonight I went to my first ever RA meeting. I was surprised by how few people were there, and how even less were still actively officiating... The meeting...

    Pre Season Fees

I'm doing a game this Wednesday, and both teams have agreed to pay me a tenner, so £20 for a pre-season match suits me fine. Ready to get back out in the middle after a prolonged summer due to holidays/volunteering etc.

    L7-L6 LOTG Test

The website did come in handy for practice actually, cheers mate. Passed with a score of 31/35 so I'm happy enough :)

    L7-L6 LOTG Test

Got my promotion seminar for the L7-6 promotion next month and was just wondering if the LOTG assessment was particularly difficult? It's been 4 years since I did my initial referee training, and as I remember that test was pretty run of the mill. Is it much of a step up this time round?

    A strange five minutes

The above is from a Huddersfield v Barnsley game a couple of years ago. The score as it was (think they were drawing....) kept both sides in the division so neither was in a rush to get on with the game. Skip to 3:30ish to see what I mean. Don't see what the referee can do in that situation...

    Sheffield RA/Mark Halsey

Interesting little rumblings in my local RA as of late. Our last meeting was due to have Mark Halsey as a guest speaker, but felt as though they had their arm forced to withdraw the invitation due to Mark's "negativity about top flight referees". It all got a bit bitchy and unnecessary. See...

    WGS in for an upgrade.

Glad it's back up and running, but I think I'll leave it til tomorrow now - got a serious evening of FIFA to knuckle down to

    WGS in for an upgrade.

Anyone else having issues with the WGS this evening? Tried getting on to submit my cautions from today, and keep getting runtime errors, or service unavailable screens...

    Promotion..do i or don't i

Credit where it's due, the Wragg League surprised me. I thought it'd be old blokes kicking one another cos they couldn't run, but it's actually quite a good standard of football, particularly in the higher divisions. There's a fair number of ex-pros/semi-pros playing in the league that have...

    Promotion..do i or don't i

As it is, I get £20 per game refereeing in the junior league, and the adult league is (IIRC) £22+35p a mile. My availability for next season (and the remainder of this) is going to be when Sheffield Wednesday are away from home, and every Sunday. The referee's head at my local CFA has said...

    Promotion..do i or don't i

I've bitten the bullet and applied for my first ever promotion (L7-->6). I was in two minds about it due to the money involved. By taking my promotion, I'll be reducing my income (initially), due to the appointments. At present, I do all junior football, and do a minimum of two games every...

    Ched Evans

Being from Sheffield, it has been one of the major talking points in footballing circles recently. Now, before I go on, I will put it out there that I'm a Wednesday fan, so saw the whole case through blue-tinted specs. I can see why the bloke isn't "repenting" this crime, as he believes he is...

Stuart Gray - City v Wednesday

Hahaha. I'd probably go along with that as a fair assessment - City's class shone through in the end, and wore us down. Bit of a sickener to concede so late to lose the game, but as you say, a much better showing than the League Cup, and that was the only expectation from today. We can also...
