    Goal or No Goal?

Just shows you that even FIFA officials and 4 pairs of 'mic'd up' eyes still don't get it right all the time. Makes me feel better for all my balls ups!

Marco Van Basten - Scrap offside and yellow cards

How about a GAA style black card (in addition to yellow and red that operate like they do in football) which allows the referee to send off a player for 5 categories of offence - e.g. Deliberate trip / cynical fouls, ofinabus to opponent and yelling at referee. The player can however be...

Marco Van Basten - Scrap offside and yellow cards

How do they work in grassroots rugby league / union etc or is that only at elite level?

Marco Van Basten - Scrap offside and yellow cards

Sounds like the Down Area League reserve divisions!

    Pointless Courses

Just read about @DanCohen17's pointless mentoring course. I've got to do a mandatory 90 minutes on report writing. 90 minutes, being taught how to write. Seriously. Why not just identify those referees who need support rather than employing a large sledgehammer?

Open Age Horrendous first match today - need some game management advice

Death threat, everyone's going home - but maybe that's more to do with where I live. :D Great advice just above. When I hit a bad patch I spent a few hours trawling the Incidents part of the forum and the General forum in particular. You might also have an effective referee association that...

    Goalkeepers Shirt Colour

I have to say that I usually only go to games with a black and a yellow (can check team colours online). Will clash fairly frequently with a keeper in yellow especially but that is yet to cause a problem. Either he changes or I use common sense at corners etc.

Tariff for calling the ref a cheat?

Heard of 5 matches when reported as misconduct after a game.

    Spartan sth 13th min abandonment

I'm trying to get a handle on what level of football this is and what level the referee would be. Semi - pro type standard judging by Wikipedia?

Open Age Did I cause this ?

Talked himself out of the game regardless of what should have happened to defender. Personally, regardless of the language I'd give one warning about the spitting as I was talking - and I'd happily give the 2nd yellow for that alone if it continued. Wouldn't talk to anyone on the street or at...

    CAR / PITA

Here they only do throw ins and always from the halfway line (the second bit not in the rules). You'll soon learn who the one arm bandits are in your league.

    Yesterday's Match

Cup tie - very competitive match and very entertaining. Teams not in my normal league nor were they in the same league. No unsporting behaviour, cynical stopping tackles, dissent, nonsense appeals or blaming me when goals were conceded. Not even close to showing a card throughout. Teams...

Restart after ball put out of play for an injury

To some extent it sounds to me that you sent him off for being a bit of a prat - one of those have to be there moments though I think. If the blue heard what he was planning to do then to me well within his rights to nick the hall off him.

    Fitness as a new ref

I have to echo the above comment about high intensity training. I've always run distance but doesn't really suit the needs of matches all the time with breaks and the lug upfield. Working mostly on sprint HIIT over the summer means that I've really seen a difference in my sprinting / higher...

Rio 2016: New Zealand captain Abby Erceg handed 'harsh' red card

If you notice she's talking into the mic / listening on earpiece quite a lot . You'd think one of her colleagues would be telling her to catch herself on. She'll (probably, FIFA) not need to worry about spending a second week there though. PS my working day revolves around telling kids to...

Rio 2016: New Zealand captain Abby Erceg handed 'harsh' red card

If people understand what you say then it's not bad grammar / spelling - language is not fixed - read David Crystal.
