    Tonight, at end of game, 'congratulations, you got them their equaliser, followed closely by (after I showed him my watch) no way, you changed that.' We had lots of added time. Altogether, red card.

    Personally I don't do that. The player knows they've been cautioned; for me the yellow card is for everyone else's information.

    We either want zero tolerance or not - grey areas, as said, lead to confusion and a greater chance of such events happening.

    Resigning from refereeing

    Rereading your original post from November it's hard to see how there are no witnesses or how not an assault / attempted assault on you. Something clearly amiss. Are they taking the line that it's only an assault if a player's fist makes contact with a referee's teeth?
