England U19s to replay end of qualifier after refereeing error

And therein lies the problem - where is the line drawn - 25 mins, 65 mins, 80 mins? Is it just a penalty mistake or what about a dodgy offside in the 89th minute? Start of a very slippery slope and possibly the introduction of video technology by default but in the worst possible way, where...

England U19s to replay end of qualifier after refereeing error

Coming into the summer and people going for long fancy dress walks in orange, and other people in different green and white fancy dress stopping the Orange fancy dressers going for a walk, this penalty will seem like the most sensible thing ever - why they chose to do it in North Belfast.

Gone to the Dark Side :)

Can I ask what age group your match was? Funny sometimes share with rugby refs - they all love it! Do you think the match fee thing is part of difference - ie we're getting paid to take sh1t? That's a common comment about the money I would hear - that we get far too much.

    Corner flags

Did you need to brush up on your laws to get that detail?

    Corner flags

2 weeks ago I had neither corner flags, nor penalty spots and barely any touchlines. Both teams happy to play - sorted.

Junior/Youth Abandonment after 68 mins played

I started with a spot on pitch yesterday and finished on a ploughed field.

    Preventing keeper from releasing ball

On a cold, wet and windy day in belfast with driving rain (so bad I came close to abandoning due to effect on pitch) shouting to him to move was not an option. Second problem was he was pushing it the whole game - could possibly have sold moving on otherwise. Interestingly the North American...

    Preventing keeper from releasing ball

Would you always caution a player for stopping keeper from kicking ball from their hands? I gave a player 2nd yellow for it yesterday but does in retrospect seem like a soft sending off, although I had previously warned against doing it after an earlier attempt.

Goalie backpass - "Can I pick it up ref or is it a backpass?"

I personally call it loudly every time - otherwise players are doing the lottery.

Hackett says he feels sorry for Matic (ie not a red). There's the definitive word said.

    Eh? The Things You Hear

6 yards but then another insightful comment was because striker had scuffed shot before challenge he'd lost his advantage so couldn't have penalty

    Eh? The Things You Hear

No definite yellow. Maybe not wonderfully described but not really point of post.

    Eh? The Things You Hear

No definite yellow. Maybe not wonderfully described but not really point of post. For record it wasn't two footed really - 1 foot followed by a trailer. Just the perception of this individual was bizarre.

    Eh? The Things You Hear

'I understand why you gave our keeper a yellow card for taking the attacker out 2 footed but don't understand why you gave a penalty.'

Junior/Youth What decisions did you make this weekend that put a smile on your face?

According to one player I was a f'ing clown so must have been making many people laugh or smile with my decisions.
