Nothing like desperately sprinting towards the goal after a shot from the kick off cause your club lino is gonna be no help as to whether or not it's gone in.
Happened in a junior game today where a striker is through on goal. Defender kicks striker but striker stays on feet and gets the shot away.
Striker was off balance when he took the shot so I pull it back for a penalty instantly before anyone can say an advantage has been played.
My question...
Another one that I heard was a team was appealing for offside every time and started complaining about FA appointed linos.
Captain says the ref should overrule them and give offside.
Ref doesn't answer so the player says "are you just here to look pretty".
Ref says "you think I'm pretty?" 😂
Regularly happens where dug outs will shout "You must be able to see that was out lino".
They then realize that they're stood way out of it and blocked my view.
Once that happens they stay in their area for the rest of the game!
You'll soon learn that players / managers have no idea about the laws of the game.
Dare I say to the point that you can actually waffle yourself out of an incorrect one, though I wouldn't recommend it.
Had a strange one today.
Center back gets medical treatment so I tell him to go off at the side and be waved back on.
Opposition corner comes in and they score.
Queue shouts from benches about not having a CB.
Same player goes down later in the game. Play on until the ball goes out as not a...
You can get away with this for some things.
Offensive, insulting and abusive language or violent conduct are the two that you don't really have an option.
The fact you have came here and are thinking about it will stand you in good stead for the future.
I've got two games tomorrow and have found a new technique.
I can't really describe it but it's like focusing on the middle of the mouth rather than the whole mouth (I hope I never have to write that sentence again).
I shall report back with the results. Hopefully I notice a difference and...
Well done on your first game mate.
You're already on the right track by reflecting on it.
For admitting mistakes it depends entirely on the environment / vibe (if you know what I mean).
For JPL which I presume will be an academy and for you being a new ref I can't really see any problems...
One thing coming up regularly seems to be my whistle is too quiet.
I'm using a fox 40 classic and after some research discovered the tongue technique.
I still can't actually hear a difference though and I'm finding it hard to alter the tones using the tongue technique.
I was thinking of...
I'm not on the promotion ladder this year but I was just wondering what happens if you abandon a match you're being assessed in.
Are any marks valid or do you have to be observed a further time?
If it has stopped a promising attack or denied an obvious goal scoring opportunity you should issue a card according to the law.
I was told at a CORE meeting that If a shot is heading towards goal it's an easy sell.
The handball does not need to be deliberate for it to be a bookable offence.
If the arm makes the body unnaturally bigger then it is an offence, deliberate or not.
What is deemed as natural / not natural has been debated since the law was updated.
Is this regarding your academy game?
I've never booked anyone at an academy yet but was informed that it went no further and therefore didn't need reporting.
Whether I've been told right or wrong I'll let someone else say.
