    sin bin and added time

Quick sin bin scenario: Player is dismissed for dissent in the 46th minute of the first half (so during added time). Ref plays another 3 minutes before half-time. I know IFAB/FA guidance says a sin bin is 10 minutes of playing time and that added time should be included, with any remainder...

    IFAB Q and A

I saw this in the Q&A of the LotG 25/26 and i though the answer was interesting. After a goal kick has been taken by the goalkeeper, the ball touches the referee outside the penalty area, remains on the field of play, and bounces back towards the goal. The goalkeeper handles the ball to...

    Offside Question

Funnily enough I was gonna use similar sceniario in our RA weekly LotG qestion Home team No. 8 plays a long ball over the defenders. Home team No. 10 is in an offside position when the ball is played and is clearly running toward it. Before No. 10 can reach the ball and impact play, a defender...

Hi Fellow referees I’ve somehow ended up on our RA’s training committee, which means I’ve been roped into making a Laws of the Game quiz – one question a week – and I want to test them out on here first to make sure they hold up. I’ll post one question each week with 4 possible answers and...

Someone put this in my local RA groupchat. A player leaves the field of play with the referee's permission in order to correct their equipment. Whilst the ball is in play, the player makes an offensive gesture towards a steward. What is the correct decision?

Recently, I refereed a game (U15) where I awarded a free kick 5 yards outside the box, near the "D." It took the attackers about 10 seconds to place the ball, and they were ready. I got into position, and as I blew the whistle, the defenders started saying, "Ref, we want a wall." However, they...

verbally distracting and opponent in the box.

Seen an interesting discussion on Facebook What's the correct decision if a player verbally distracts an attacking opponent during play inside the box, Attacker 1 on 1 with the keeper and chasing back defender shouts "AHHH" as he takes the shot? Attacker misses the goal as a consequence.
