That also appears to be outside the area - so if ref decides 'no handball', no reason for VAR to get involved...

    Drop ball?

except if the ball goes in the goal, it's a dropped ball... if the ball goes over the touch line, it's a throw in...

    Drop ball?

Thanks One.... I've read and re-read that and understand what you're saying..... However, how can the ball 'remain on the field of play' and 'go directly into the goal'? If the ball goes into the goal, it's out of play... and then, by the same logic, if the ball goes out for a throw or GK...

    Drop ball?

In my game at the weekend, I was hit by the ball (I know - get out of the way!) which then went directly out of play for a throw in. I (eventually) awarded a drop ball to the team who had been in possession, as my thinking was that if the other team were awarded the throw - possession would...

Completely agree with you! I hadn't seen your thread this morning, and have (accidently) started a new one on the Italy v England match... similar ideas... Refreshing to watch isn't it!?

    Italy v England (rugby union)

Having watched this match in the Six Nations yesterday, I was interested in reigniting the discussion about dissent / acceptance of the referee's decisions between football and rugby. It was a pleasure to watch how accepting the players (and the commentators) were of the referee's decisions -...

Does anybody else love the (sometimes) thrill?

😲 Don't do this!!! He punched someone - he has to learn that there are consequences to his actions! Especially at Under 18... That aside, it is your role to put the cards through and you could get into trouble if you don't. Additionally, the managers should be reported for even asking you...

    Keeper you ready?

At youth level, I always give a shout to the keepers and Club ARs. Gives me an excuse to use the CARs name... hopefully they're impressed that I've remembered their names!!

    Aston Villa v West Ham

IF VAR had considered both offences to be worthy of red cards, would we have seen two red cards? Surely, the referee should not have been playing advantage from the first offence and therefore the DOGSO cannot happen?? RC for Hause and a FK back at that point? Or is that not correct?

    "Spastic"

Completely agree that this is offensive and requiring of a sending off. Do all younger people (under 18s for example) know what this word means though? It's no longer used to describe someone in a medical sense, I think due to the word previously being used in a derogatory manner, so should...

Advice on handling interactions with players

All good points made re the players and coaches... The only thing that I haven't noticed being said is that this referee is under 16 (Level 8). The ADULT coaches should definitely not be interacting with this child referee in such a manner. It's intimidation and abuse and should not be...

    Double jeopardy?

I was at the game and as you say, I was really surprised that the defender nor his team mates complained! They just seemed to accept that it was a foul in the penalty area and therefore a red card. There was also a second penalty later on, where the defender 'grabbed' the attacker to stop...

    Double jeopardy?

Local FA Cup qualifier - Penalty and red card at 7:14 in the video... Looks to be an attempt to play the ball - doesn't that make the red card seem harsh / wrong?

    Competition Rules Are Important

In that clip, you can clearly hear someone shouting "Ref, ref - there's no sin bins in the FA Cup." As a ref, if you heard this, what do you do!? Talk to the benches -see if they know something different from you? That could certainly have solved his problem in this case...
