My parents live 100 miles away from me... I might try that :). Think the neighbours might complain first...

Player abusive to club linesman. What actions can you take?

To perhaps 'go back a step', do we think that the referee was shouting to the players not to get involved? If he is proactively telling them to leave it to the stewards - surely it is then more understandable when he then sends off the player involved. Also, when he was flashing the red card...

    Write-on Match Record-keeping

Although not necessary to write during the match, I also have to submit club linesman names to the league - so use my match card for that too. Also when reffing at youth level, we also have 'Respect marshals' (Surrey Youth League) - and have to report their names in the same manner. As this...

    McTominay on Son

Thanks - just feels a bit dirty being in agreement with a City fan... even in a ref forum :)

    McTominay on Son

For transparency, I am a United fan.... My view was that McTominay threw his arm back, only because Son tried to grab at his shirt... again in my view, he was just trying to 'shake him off'. I was surprised that the goal was disallowed, and more surprised by the poll results above. Just...

Ex pro players in your league.

Flagged David Howells offside when running the line as a CAR...:) He went mad and ref backed me up, saying - he's a qualified ref, so he's right! He was playing Sunday league football with his brother - who was a decent goalkeeper. Watched Paul Merson playing for a Sunday morning team in...

    Ref blocks a shot!

Really? Possible DOGSO with keeper happens when ref is still 10 yards outside area. After that, defender is not very close to attacker and (as you say) attacker is about to put ball into the unguarded net... why does the ref then continue his run into the area?

    Ref blocks a shot!

He's not going to be happy with that! Not sure why he was continuing his run into the penalty area... https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/56150465

    Corners & Attacking Free Kicks

Fabianski held the ball for 21 seconds in last night's match! It felt like a really long time, so I rewound the TV and looked at the clock! Once Man United had scored.... he was much quicker to release the ball! ;)

    How much for a YC?

I know that it was a £10 admin fee last season - wasn't aware that it had been increased this season, but would sound probable. At youth 'club football', the 'fine' was always passed on to the player involved - or more likely his parents! Why do you say that the fee can't be passed on, does...

I’m too lenient and it backfired today

Agree with everything said above, and it also looks as if you've reflected well on aspects that you'd look to improve next time. My only additional comment (question to others) would be - if you file a misconduct report, would the league / county look at it and wonder why there had only been...

    Over zealous marking!

But penalise him how? The ball wasn't in play at this stage, so more like the 'jostling' that goes on before a corner. If it carries on once ball in play, no problem to award a foul, but otherwise what should be done? I did make sure both players knew that I was watching what was happening....

    Over zealous marking!

I refereed U15s yesterday and had an interesting tactic by one particular player. When his team was defending a goal kick, or defensive free kick, he would closely mark an opposition player and follow him around everywhere - sometimes blocking his path causing contact, sometimes just jumping...

    Sheffield United - Tottenham

Very poor not to come back for Spurs free kick... ref was clearly signalling advantage, which has not been allowed to accrue! And elbow looks like a straight red to me. Has a look where Son is first, then smacks him Was it reviewed?

Penalty kick hits crossbar and then....

Ball went high in the air. As it came down in the penalty area, the penalty taker challenged for the ball. Now, I was 'hoping' that he would win the header, so that I could award a free kick to the defence team for the taker playing the ball twice. But as the defender won the header, I...

    tournament fees

The club only made that much PROFIT because so many people within the club gave their time for free... I'm a referee who is also involved with a Colts football club in the South East. We charge teams £35 to enter and have over 100 teams over the weekend. We have six pitches and 9 referees...
