    WHU v Wolves

I gather David Coote had quite a challenging game.

How to get match coach reports

Birmingham definitely has an RDO so I'm assuming they are not your parent county? Birmingham use a system called Refsec for appointing matchday coaches and observers. If you're not on their promotion scheme your matches will not appear on their list of games to observe. How are you informing...

Bodycams Open Age Grassroots Trial 'Early 2023'

When you press the button it retains the last 30 seconds plus whatever happens next. So you don't need to know you're going to be assaulted but you do have to press the button fairly promptly. I don't think GDPR is a problem at all. What is a problem is the cost.

Level Four - go for it or no?

Level 4 is not for me. I a Yes, there are suddenly a terrific number of 5->4 candidates. That was of course the whole point of changing the lower promotion schemes to be easier: to give the FA a larger pool of candidates for L4. Whether the result is better quality L4s remains to be seen.

    Man City v Spurs

I think this decision is probably deserving of the term "howler". He's a very good ref, but he's got this very, very wrong.

    Clampdown?

What sort of gibberish is this?

    2 minutes silence

I have a funny feeling that their sanctioning county might have a view on that. Leagues are not allowed to make up rules, particularly rules which contradict the LOTG.

Jewellery - when did it change?

I don't think we necessarily have to slavishly apply laws that really are trivial. For example, if a kid wears a base layer that is a different colour to his top I am not going to insist he freezes in order to apply the law provided it doesn't clash with the opposition strip. At my level you're...

    COP v MUN

Incredibly tough one to call. Is the crunch of the ankle a result of Rashford's lack of concern for his opponents safety? Or of the defenders actions? Or just sheer bad luck?

    Sin Bin yellow cards

This attitude creates problems for other referees who want to do it properly (and safely). A referee who wears a wedding ring makes it more difficult for next week's ref to get players to remove theirs. If you don't sin bin for dissent next week's referee who does it properly is going to get...

    Sin Bin yellow cards

Law 5 is optional is his league too apparently so who knows what rules are followed?

    Sin Bin yellow cards

Exactly this. I can't remember the last time I sin binned a player because when you give them a final warning they shut up. And their team mates tell them to cut it out. I definitely haven't sin binned this season or last.

I think bein sports used a technology called guesswork.

    Newcastle Vs Arsenal

Having seen another replay of the Havertz tackle which clearly shows there is contact with the leading foot I think VAR have missed another red there. https://arsenalist.com/f/havertz-avoid-the-red-card-2023-11-04.html

    Newcastle Vs Arsenal

I'm an Arsenal fan and I think VAR got the goal decision correct. Arteta notably does not say which of the three possible reasons for ruling it out he thinks should stand. You can't tell if the ball is out of play, I don't think it's an obvious enough foul to be a clear error, and I think it's...

    What do I do pre-match?

Yes but that was clearly in the context of a referee asking about wearing his own glasses which are obviously not polycarbonate or he wouldn't be asking the question.

    What do I do pre-match?

"Referees should ensure that if a request has been made to wear glasses/goggles, that they must not be a danger to himself or to any other player." Unless the glasses have polycarbonate lenses and a strap they are a danger to the player. I will overlook this in age groups where the ball never...

Jewellery - when did it change?

I've had that a few times. There is an FA guidance that if a person cannot be separated from jewellery for religious reasons they can wear it taped to their chest. In practice I tell people they can put it in their socks.

Jewellery - when did it change?

I suspect you're wrong about that. The problem with wearing a ring is that if you break your finger when wearing it you have a very small window in which to cut the ring off before you lose the finger. There are also cases of people catching the ring on something and it yanking the finger off...

    What do I do pre-match?

The risk is principally to the wearer of the glasses. My eight year old son only has one working eye so I am probably more sensitive than most on this subject. One of the players in the (U10) team I coached wore glasses and I wouldn't let him wear them while playing or training. His parents...
