    How windy is too windy?

I'm on friendly tomorrow involving teams from step 5 which is higher than I would normally do during the season. It's on a 4G surface. It's forecast to be 45mph winds. I have heard a rule of thumb that if the ball will not stay still you shouldn't play. Aside from the very obvious question of...

Open Age Caution procedure and write on cards

Refsix does this automatically (and also the position on the pitch) in case that helps anyone.

    Advantage on DOGSO

Thanks very much. I had totally forgotten this. Apparently so did the ref.

    Advantage on DOGSO

I'm also an idiot apparently because I don't understand this?

    LOTG 2023/24

Two quick questions on LOTG 2023/24: 1. When were they first published? 2. Do they still do a printed edition?

    whistles

The knock-offs I've tried are genuinely indistinguishable from the real thing. I have two genuine (lost one, replaced it, found the original) and four or five knock-offs. The only downside is the finger grip which is awful on the knock-offs. Fortunately the real ones come with three.

    Body cams trial

It actually is on all the time but it discards the recording unless you hit a button, at which point the last 30 odd seconds and everything that happens after is sent to the servers. It also shows on screen what is being recorded so it's obvious to the player(s). I just can't see who is going...

New kit free... For L3 & L4 and above refs...

So long as they don't say you can't wear existing kit with the old badge I don't really care. I actually ordered a shirt from my county with a county badge and it arrived with the FAMOA badge instead.

    Nike ref top

Assuming the league is in England they would have had to actually remove that rule from SCOR for it not to be there.

    Nike ref top

That is covered by the requirement of teams not to wear black or very dark kits, something I'm not advocating removing.

Open Age Caution procedure and write on cards

Personally I ask for the name but I only write down the number. At the end of the match I check the teamsheet, if it doesn't chime with my recollection of the name I'll ask. Takes a couple of minutes at the end of the game, saves a couple of minutes in it.

    Nike ref top

I don't really understand why anyone cares what colour a referee wears. I can see why counties and leagues don't allow teams to wear black or very dark colours, so referees do not have to have loads of shirts, but why should anyone be bothered if I'm wearing green so long as there's no clash? I...

You need to ask your county. Mine allows any colour.

    safeguarding training for children

I emails five different RDOs and asked about this, and the consensus is that the FA has not really made up it's mind what it wants to do about all this, but Chas's RDO is correct that for the moment both "Safeguarding Children" and "Safeguarding for All' are being accepted both for youth and...

    Replacement of FAMOA badge

I would have guessed not but I asked mine and apparently they would.

    Replacement of FAMOA badge

If you're dual registered you still have only one parent county. Your 'registration' at the other one is called an "associate affiliation".

They also need one of those for any refereeing, not just youth.

    safeguarding training for children

I've only ever done SFC but this might be because I'm a youth coach. Anyway, you can now register, and if you don't have the right certification it will tell you.

    League One Playoff Final

I think it's a red, and I think it took balls to give it in a play off final. However, they have missed a pen there. Totally understand the ref not seeing it but it's clear as day on replays.

    safeguarding training for children

SFC (or SFA) is indeed essential regardless of whether you are doing youth football. The system will not let you register if you don't have the correct certification. Registration opens in three days.
